Do I really have to beat this game's story quests to understand KH3 when it comes out?

Or would watching Chi Back Cover tell me everything I need to know? I really don't want to have to beat this game's 300+ quests to understand the story. I have no problem beating any other KH game to get the story, but Unchained Chi's gameplay is incredibly repetitive because of the mobile aspect. It's designed more for short playing sessions than long ones. I know the quests are pretty short, but the game doesn't offer enough for me to want to slog through hundreds of quests that are all basically the same thing.

So could I skip Unchained Chi and get Chi's story a different way?

We won't know until it's out and the games are finished if only watching the movie will give you everything, but I assume it is going to give you everything you need to know about the Foretellers and what's really happening, which is probably what's going to be the most relevant in the future games.

Well I believe KHInsider has uploaded all the main story cutscenes so far onto their YouTube channel. You can get caught up there if you want. And Back Cover will tell you the other side of the story with the Foretellers. So you might want to watch that as well when 2.8 comes out.
