I've been watching Deep Dive continuously today and this piece is essentially a transcript of that masterpiece - sans the beach, cryptic utterings and Mickey. I'm sure you can figure out what "the key" and "the blind one" allude to.

---------------------

Deep Dive

The anguish of a forgotten time
Hangs dire o'er the towering neon
Glare of a thousand listless, mourning signs.

The rain plummets earthbound
In a constant gait; invisible
Droplets in the darkness.

Enter the key, shrouded
In the nothing
That pervades the non-existent world.

A shadow, he walks into
The embrace of oblivion;
The dawnless realm.

He stands at the forefront
Of a sudden revolution;
The heavens tear asunder.

Arms outstretched toward
The gaping sky,
The blind one smiles.

The key remains silent;
Words mean nothing at
The crossroads of the infinite.

The stars fall in perfect alignment
While the blind one stands peerless,
Smiting the broken clouds.

The key turns his gaze
To the neon tower as
The darkness surrounds him.

Countless shadows fall into
The abyss; he
Sets them free.

The blind one steels himself
As the key sprints
Towards the splintered rain.

Eternally silent,
The key flings his weapon
Skyward.

The blind one leaps
From the ascendancy
And plummets with the rain.

The key and the blind one
Meet midway and exchange
A fleeting glance.

The blind one sees
And the key unlocks.

Bound in darkness,
The memories return.

I remain unsure as to the necessity of the last four lines, but overall I'm proud of it. It doesn't strike me as particularly compelling (the lack of font variation doesn't help), but I think that stems from my decision to refrain from outright describing the events of the scene - I wanted the reader to interpret it. Whatever.

I hope you liked it.
