I'm in the middle of playing the original GBA version of COM on an emulator, and I got to the part where Axel gives Larxene the card to fight Sora, and Axel says something peculiar a line or two before that, "he's partly one of us." was Axel originally supposed to know Roxas was Sora's Nobody, cause it seems like he didn't know that at all in 358/2 Days, and I think it got retconned, what are your thoughts.

Not a retcon. Day 14 of the Secret Reports in Days written by Axel states that he knew Roxas was Sora’s Nobody. This was prior to the events at Castle Oblivion.

Oh, I brought it up because things seemed to be cut from the remake, that line in particular, and also finished Sora's side, almost done with Riku's, and, now I could be wrong, I think the GBA version is better written, for instance, there's a better explanation for what Zexion's group was planning to do with Riku other than just "we were going to set him up against the traitors", it just feels like some things got cut for no reason.

Some things were changed to line up better with what KH2 ended up being or simply better translations. KH2 likely gave the localization team much better context of what Not sure if it’s true, but I recently read that Axel’s hell of a show line in the original was a mistranslation. He also says “Commit it to memory.” instead of “Got it memorized?” in OG CoM.

I don't know, the GBA version seems better to me, but I do agree that "Got it memorized" has a much better ring to it.

I’m not saying I like Re:CoM more. It’s just an objective fact that it lines up more accurately with KH2 and other games made after the original.
