Kingdom Hearts Stained Glass Clock Exhibition Opens at Shinjuku Station on Jan 9th

Kingdom Hearts will be on full display at the Metro Promenade of Shinjuku Station in Japan this year. To celebrate it's 15th anniversary, a special exhibition featuring iconic Kingdom Hearts characters on stain glass clocks will open on Janaury 9th 2017. Translations are below thanks to Goldpanner!

Square Enix will be displaying a memorial stained glass clock commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series in the Shinjuku Station's Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line Metro Promenade from the 9th til the 15th of January 2017.

※This is an
artist's impression.
※Please refrain from asking the railway and station staff about it.

With twelve stained glass pieces arranged around Sora's massive stained glass station, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Memorial Stained Glass Clock is designed to mimic a clock face. We will go into more detail later, but each piece of stained glass used in the display is a functional clock, and will be gifted to thirteen people in a campaign: an unmissable opportunity for fans of the series.

Beside the huge clock will be a giant 80 inch display playing clips from the series condensed into a one hour video, and a countdown until the release day for PS4 title KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue.

There are additional plans to display a huge character mural of all the appearing characters gathered in one place, and a memorial exhibit of assembled clips and visuals looking back on the 15-year series.

Regarding the stained glass clock gift project, you can participate if you have a Twitter account. Upon following the official Kingdom Hearts account @_KINGDOMHEARTS, you should upload a photo of your favourite stained glass piece with the #キングダムハーツ15周年 hashtag.

The photo can be one you've taken of the actual display, but it seems you can also select a stained glass design prepared for a website set up especially for it.

This campaign will run from the 9th til the 15th of January. For more details on terms and conditions, please check the series 15th anniversary memorial website.

It's really cool that we have some official Station of the Hearts for some of the characters. Well it's technically not cannon I suppose but it at least gives us something.

This is amazing. This has me immensely excited for what's to come this year in celebrating Kingdom Hearts' anniversary, because with something so different and unexpected like this happening, who knows what else Nomura and co have up their sleeves? I have a feeling that once 2.8 finally releases, the hypetrain will leave the station full speed ahead.

I wouldn't consider these as official canon stations. We've seen several in-game and know what they're supposed to look like. Barring Sora's and the Foreteller station, they're just different pieces of official artwork thrown together.

Is this hints on what's to come? If we count the people who can wield keyblades in the stain glass collection, they're exactly 7: Sora, Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Aqua and Mickey. 7 Guardians of Light perhaps? Or is it all just a random selection?

Also, there's 2 artwork/character representatives per game that's already released except for re:Coded and X:
KHI: Two Sora artworks
CoM: Sora and Riku
KHII: Sora and Kairi
Days: Roxas and Xion
BBS: Aqua and Mickey
DDD: Sora and Riku with Mickey in both of them.

Okay, in other words, it's interesting and I just wanna get at least one of them.

You forgot Aqua in your initial count, but yes that is pretty interesting! You could be onto something, especially considering they are all in the 13 clocks.

But I'm hesitant to dismiss Axel/Lea since he was juxtaposed to Saix/Isa in KH3D to indicate he'd be facing off against him at some point...

All those times I surfed for fan-designs of stained glasses, all those good and bad ones on deviantArt, my search is now concluded officially lol
I love the fact that they chose to promote the beautiful stained glasses! They are truly something special as reflections/representations of the heart

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much! I did forgot to write Aqua's name in! But I'm sure I counted her so it's still 7.

Well, this is just a theory anyway so who knows what'll really happen in KH3?

Exactly, I am too of the impression to not interpret too much into them like with some Foreteller-poses but just enjoy them for what they are: A celebration of 15 years of Kingdom Hearts as a whole.

I'm totally digging that mural with (nearly) all the characters on it though.
It's funny that several characters are present twice on it but the FF cameos, Luxu and Young Xehanort are completely omitted.

From my perspective, Xion’s station of awakening makes complete sense. I believe that this station of awakening is depiction Xion when she has become self-aware of what she truly is, a replica of Roxas. Having Axel and Saix at one side is also symbolic of how they used to be friends but that was fractured because of Xion, Sora is who she wants to return to and Xemnas is who she doesn’t want to return to.

If anything, I interpret the people in the stained glass as people who mattered, regardless if they were loved or not. Aqua's also has Master Xehanort too.
Saix was indeed a powerful presence in Xion's life, as why Roxas isn't there, maybe it's becuase him and Xion are replicas of each other.
So he's more part of Xion's entire self, and not just a person that mattered to her.

This makes honestly the most sense and also reinforces why these stations have to be looked at with a meta-sort of eye and not from an in-universe, canon perspective as in-universe stations certainly only show loved ones and friends on one's station.

Aqua has Vanitas on "her" station too for Chirithy's sake, someone she has literally zero connection or positive feelings towards.

Mickey has Terra on his station despite never truly meeting him or forming a connection for that matter while Riku has Ansem SoD on his who is also certainly not one of Riku's "loved ones".

These stations thus serve to visually display connections between characters and games towards the audience to celebrate the 15th Anniversary and each single entry of the series, with X[chi] being represented by the five-union glass station.
Chain of Memories is represented by two stations, the first and second, easily recognizable by the card-symbols in the outer ring of the stations.
The third represents KH 2, with both Kairi and Sora in their KH 2 attires and featuring Roxas and Naminé in the central circles.
The fourth and fifth stations represent Days, the sixth x[chi].
The seventh and eighth station represent Birth by Sleep (and by extension BBS 0.2) as they both feature Terra and Ventus in the central circles while the ninth one obviously represents Re: Coded.
The tenth and eleventh one represent DDD, in an almost mirror like fashion to the two CoM-ones while the twelfth station represents KH 1.

They are super fanart-y, I don't like them one bit. They didn't even add missing details like Xion's other hand, so they are nothing more than collages. On top of that they somehow missed the most important detail too, since almost all central characters don't have their eyes closed.

See this just makes me more certain that Saix and Xion's relationship is meant to be a reverse parallel of Axel and Roxas's, even if these heart station clocks are non-canon. (Though I think CoM Sora being on there instead of Roxas makes sense if you think about it how technically he represents both of them)

Like others have stated already, I think the characters aren't only meant to be people the chars love. But people who played a role - why else would MX be on Aqua's stage, for example?

I'm somewhere between liking these and thinking they look like cheap fan art. That and it kinda bothers me that the character's eyes aren't shut, but they're not canon parts of the games so it's whatever

Sephiroth0812

They're most likely meant to broadly represent each title and the people most influential in both good and bad sense.

Like said, I would not necessarily try to read/interpret any deeper meanings or intentions for the actual in-universe canon into them as they're almost certainly not meant to be canon representations but are on a meta-level, representing things to the real-world audience.
