Accompanying the Japanese release of KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.5 ReMIX on October 2nd, 2014 is the Kingdom Hearts Series Memorial Ultimania. Exactly as the name suggests, this Ultimania offers an in-depth look at the entire series from front to back, including tons of never-before-seen artwork and information straight from the development team, such as:
- Character profiles
- World guides
- Keyblade gallery
- Enemy glossary
- Concept Art gallery
The Ultimania comes out to a whopping 256 pages and will cost 3,132 yen with tax (roughly $30.61 USD).

Frankly I'm fine if they give an English version to any western country - that way we can import.

I really hope this is released in the US, but given it's an Ultimania if not I understand, either way, concept art can be understood no matter the language so this might actually be the first Ultimania I pickup (or import, or whatever).
Are all Ultimanias usually this cheap? I'm actually shocked it only comes out to $30, I would have swore a book that big would have been like $50-60.

Wow. Every single one of those is larger than this new one is. Given that this is supposed to cover the entire series, it makes me wonder why it's shorter than all the others. Hopefully it's not going to end up being an overly summarized smush of all the games. If they're going to do this, they should do it right. But hey, it's not even in print yet. Gotta wait and see (assuming Square isn't dumb and releases this outside of Japan)

Hoping Square reveals an international verison of this during E3. I've been dreaming of a KH Hyrule Historia for a while now. To see it come true only to have it be entirely in Japanese would be heartbreaking. I'd still buy it anyway, but I'd just stare at the pictures and have no idea what it says.
Again, that's only assuming this is a "Hyrule Historia" of KH. It may very well just be a giant summary of all previous Ultimanias meant to help newbies or confused fans catch up on stuff.

Most of the important plot interviews can only be looked up on KH fansites like KHInsider so far, which not even every vivid fan of the series knows about and I'm not even starting about the casuals.

Very true, actually. Well, if this doesn't get internationalized, or we don't get "our version" of this, then I'm importing for sure. $30 bucks is a steal for something of this kind of awesome. However, I sincerely hope Square heard our pleas in that survey and give the rest of us one of these bad boys. My wallet is ripe for the picking. Don't even care how much, I'm dropping down on the priciest CE of 2.5 that they reveal.
Because since Japan is getting multiple CE's and FFX/X-2 had 3 different options, I'm assuming they'll do the same with this as well. And it'll be a Square online store exclusive, no doubt.

I've wanted one for a loooooooong time. The day I got my copy of Hyrule Historia one of my first thoughts was "Damn, imagine them doing this for Kingdom Hearts!" And so, I more or less entered that into the survey as a winkwink nudgenudge wishful thinking type of suggestion, but I guess they agreed with the idea. Still doubtful of it coming stateside though. It's an Ultimania. The description even says "Catch up on the series before Kingdom Hearts III". I bet it's just a "recap" edition of all the old Ultimanias.
However, it wouldn't be recap for everyone else, given none of us have ever gotten an Ultimania. So, I still want it. Like, really badly.
I will only be excited for this if we get an English version. (I still think it's awesome, though.)

Ditto. All I've wanted for ages is an english version of the ultimania covering everything covered in past ultimanias as well as interviews. (of course dont want others left out either but you'll all have to forgive me because an english one is all I care about)~
I wouldn't count on an English version. Don't know why, but I feel like Ultimanias will always be a Japan exclusive thing. I almost want this more than 2.5 itself, but I'm not optimistic for us getting this with our LE/CE version of 2.5.

I would hope so. After all, I was one of the people who asked specifically for something like this in that survey, so it'd be great to have my suggestion actually come true, considering I've wanted this kind of thing since before 1.5 was even announced.
I guess we'll find out during E3. They said "everything under the sun" will be revealed about 2.5 during E3. Hopefully, they mean literally everything, including collector bundles, box art, [strike]and the fact that they also decided to include remastered cutscenes for Dream Drop Distance.[/strike]

Hard to be awed and appreciate the full impact when you're going "wait, what did he do?" IE, Sora asks YX how Ansem knew he and Riku would be coming back to DI on that night. YX replies "Simple"...and proceeds to not answer the question. So by having him say Simple, the game was apparently telling us it was providing an answer, but then doesn't, and I still have no clue, even though the game implies I should. I can't imagine they'll retouch on something like that in KH3. There's other stuff too, like what TX remembered, or how much he remembered, or when - stuff pertaining to his amnesia that seems strange to keep secret once they blew the door open on his big master plan.

Very true. In fact, last night I checked my copy of Hyrule Historia and it's 240 pages, if one doesn't count the little manga section at the end. So, this Ultimania is 16 pages longer than HH. So, if this thing gets localized, it'll be more than long enough to cover what it needs to, artwork and all.

I think it's because he knew that they would want to unlock the seven sleeping keyholes (given that Destiny Islands was one of them, especially) and he knew that if there were any point in time that they would return to, it would be the night of the Heartless invasion, which makes perfect sense.

The concept of the book is a chronology of the entire series, and all the journals from every game together would make exactly that. The fact that they would even consider any name other than "Jiminy's Journal" is bad and they should feel bad.

It would be my dream, honestly. Doesn't have to be leather or something ridiculous like that. But a dark brown hard cover with an emblazed Sora Crown in the top-center would be perfection.

I have to say that I'm also REALLY VERY TEMPTED to get this alongside the ones I already have (and I'm from Europe).
The only thing is that... since I've become a fan in 2006 I'm waiting to be able to read these books in a language that I can understand (because I DO NOT HAVE time to learn such a difficult language like Japanese), expecially Kingdom Hearts Ultimania books of course.
I'm really tired of waiting and note each time that I have little chance of ever being able to read these books, I also in the Official KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.5 ReMix Survey specifically asked for them to be releasing English versions of these books and now let's hope.

You're absolutely right and I cannot stand the fact that the Japanese fans can buy books with enclosed all these infos while English fans have to search the web for hours to find an excerpt of some interviews.

There's a petition for a 3DS remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask that got enough signatures to cause Nintendo to comment on it, and it's been years since there's been any further mention of it. Not to mention, that petition is for the Final Fantasy Ultimania, not KH.
And honestly, this doesn't need to be an "Ultimania" per say. They can call it whatever they want, but I just want a collective history/artbook of the entire KH series, like they did for Zelda with Hyrule Historia. If they give us that, I'll pay whatever it costs.

I've considered collecting the Ultimanias several times, but they're so expensive to import. Plus, given how this one covers the whole series and isn't a strategy guide like others, I'm glad I didn't. Saved a bunch of money cause now I just need this one if NA doesn't get it.

Yep they are expensive to import from Japan. I'm not saying that I got them all but I couldn't resist on ones like KH FM+, Birth by Sleep and FFVII 10th Annyversary.
The Walkthrogh in the ones that have it looks amazing however :)
Surely this book that covers the entire series is a great chance especially for the ones who don't have any of these guides. I'll never stop loving them :)
Hm, I must admit I'm totally sold on the idea of this thing being a series chunk ultimania as opposed to a separate one. Admittedly I'd probably buy a bunch of the FF ultimania anyway but this seems like an amazing thing to have but unfortunately I'm unwilling to import a book I cant read. If only a translation wasn't too far off in the future instead of an unlikely grey cloud in the distance.
If the price is right, and SE decides to not release an English version, I will import this. I bet they'll announce preorder bonuses/collector's editions for 2.5 at E3. Hopefully this will be one!

I have little faith that we'll be getting a 256 page KH history book along with our 2.5 copies, but we'll probably get something similar to the FFX/X-2 collector's edition, with a big hardcover artbook case along with the bluray disc music thing (which I know they're including with the Japanese editions, so there's a good chance of that coming stateside).

Well, the artwork in 1.5 was just for the games in 1.5. If this game is 2.5 specific, IDK how much concept art it'd have for the games in 1.5 :) but I hope it would have everything!!!!! EVERYTHING!!!!!
^Yes, exactly like that. But it'd be lovely in hardcover and have it detail the history of the series and contain a massive amount of art and lore AKA be exactly what this Ultimania is (I assume)
So far E3 is pretty lame on the KH front. Literally the only reveal/announcement has been that they aren't doing online Mirage Arena. So, they broke a few hearts and then gave us nothing else new. I hope they give us more. Otherwise, this year's E3 will be pretty boring, honestly.

I never really was expecting much for KH after the night before E3 when hell was unleashed upon the KH community in the form of merchandise, trailers, release dates, etc. I mean, KH3 obviously wasn't going to appear (or at least I didn't think it would...perhaps it will still, but I doubt it) and 2.5 was really hyped up in that night, I'm not sure they'd want to let all the cards out of the bag since we still have months to go.
Although I do admit, announcing no Mirage Arena would have been better done first and then announcing all the good stuff, cause no online is crushing :(

I figured they were getting the release date announcement out of the way so that they could talk about the limited editions and boxart and have their Q&A. Instead, they have revealed everything before E3 and now really aren't talking about much of anything. I'm kind of confused as to why.
