During 2016 PlayStation Press Conference in Japan, a brand new KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue trailer was released to the public, revealing that the upcoming PlayStation 4 title will be releasing on January 12 2017 in Japan!
Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue is the final HD collection that's required to play before Kingdom Hearts 3 launches on Playstation 4 and Xbox One. It contains the full game of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD, the short story of Aqua's time in the Realm of Darkness in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep 0.2 -A Fragmentary Passage-, and a HD movie telling the story of the Foretellers and how the world came to an end in Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover.

Looks so good! Sucks it's pushed back, but luckily only a month. Though, I'm hoping this doesn't mean KH3 ain't coming till 2018 because of the whole 1 game a year thang.

Calling it now, KH3 will not be released in 2017. I'm guessing the short delay for 2.8 is due to marketing reasons with FFXV. Who can say, really? Trailer looks incredibly awesome though.
January 12 isn't too long of a wait to be honest, and it gives it a bit of breathing room against FFXV. Also the new remix sounds great already!
Can't wait for the full trailer to drop around soon!

I am really bumbed about the delay, but it will be to the games benefit in the end. The trailer was WONDERFUL. I wanna stay up and see the extended one before I sleep!

Pretty disappointed with no skuld footage now that i think about it.
Best possible decision given the demographic between FFXV and KH 2.8 is shared by many fans of both series. I know I need as much time as possible to spend taking FFXV in as well as The Last Guardian.

I think we MIGHT be getting a little ahead of ourselves here guys. We don't know if KH3 is suddenly getting delayed to 2018 or anything. Its just a minor delay. Its a delay that is slowly causing my heart to cave in on itself but its still just a small delay at the end of the day. That doesn't mean anything for KH3 until we get information from Nomura and Square themselves.
Well, if KH 2.8 were to release in December when it was supposed to, you'd have FFXV, Last Guardian, and 2.8 all releasing alongside each other. That's super crowded, so I guess the delay to January is for the best. Still sucks though. And now I guarantee you that KH3 is coming out in 2018. Even if they announce a late 2017 release date for KH3, they're gonna delay it to 2018.
Ah well. If they show the box art or collector's edition stuff, I won't care about the minor delay.

It's probably because Final Fantasy XV was pushed back.
And it's good since it would have been up against Gravity Rush 2* and The Last Guardian as well.

If the delay has more to do with FFXV and less with polishing the game (I suspect its a mixture of both), then I wish it could have been released at the very end of December or something. January is just another month (compared to the two month delay for XV), but a lot of my excitement has worn off after staying up so late to watch this big reveal. I am a little salty.
Aw well. We can get through it as we have many times before. However, I don't think this suddenly affects the release date of KH3 as many people are worried about. There was never any confirmation that it was coming out 2017 anyways, but I can still see it happening. Hopefully we get some very substantial information this winter.

They've already suggested and outright stated that it will be a worldwide release.
On top of that I don't think this negaes the chances of KH3 being released in 2017. I actually think it'll be released late 2017 and this early 2017 as this is the prologue to the game. It makes sense.

Gosh, oh mys gosh. That trailer was absolutely beautiful! I need to watch it again, like at least ten times or so. I think it`s intersting that they show the Where Nothings Gather at the beginning. It`s a bit hard to see what going on thou.

That remix is fresh, it almost makes up for the one-month delay (1.5/2.5 on ps4 would do that, but i doubt thats gonna happen now)

So I am 100% here for "Hikari" Ray of Light Remix. I kinda got chills.
That cover art is instantly my favorite of all the Remix sets.

The delay kind of makes sense tho. With XV out in November, I really doubt Square wanted another big release the next month. They want XV to be their big stocking stuffer.

Mickey still looks off, but the lighting is definitely improved, and it looks like they've added some texture to the hair.

I actually think that particular screenshot still looks pretty bad, the lighting is a clear improvement but I'm still seeing action figures.
It was more the scenes with Aqua which I think were decent to good. Sleeping Ven looked good too. I dunno, I think the improvements were at least noticeable to my untrained eye this time around so I'm more hopeful. I'm just satisfied that the washed out look from before wasn't intentional.

FFXV was delayed by two months.

Yeah, I think 2017 is going to be the KH3 hype year. We're probably going to get more trailers, see some gameplay, more world announcement etc. Gotta remember Ux isn't ending any time soon either, there's still the second season to go and I doubt they're going to release KH3 before that's all done.

Everything looks great to me, I am very pleased with the trailer and the way the graphics have improved. Shadows are more defined, and the lighting is more delicate. A+
I highly doubt that KH3 will be released next year, 2018 is more likely.

I have to agree with some of the others who mentioned the new graphics are still... well, they still have me divided. I think the Aqua portions look fantastic, and Ven, Terra, and lil Sora look great, but until I see Kairi, Riku and Mickey in action instead of just standing while Yen Sid summons [strike]hitler[/strike] hither, they still look pretty stiff. Back Cover looks aight. I'm more into the backgrounds moreso than how the characters look, and I think it's mostly because of the outfits.
But hey, Riku got more defined muscles. So thanks for the fanservice?

At least it is early enough in the semester that you shouldn't be too overloaded with work. Kingdom Hearts tends to always release at the most inopportune moments for students.

So I was thinking about taking those 2 weeks off as well, its not much anyway....I dunno what I am gonna do about stuff like Tumblr though. I will definitely unfollow the tag at least but yeah. Woking up earlier today to the brand new trailer was probably the best thing that I experienced today. The opening, The Remix & Trailer itself was great. They have seriously really put a lot of effort into Backover making it feel like it's actually a feature film in a way. I can't get enough of the new Remix it's so different and catchy. So happy to see Ven in the new engine:biggrin:. The trailer really made me want to play the game and watch Backover after it was over but that won't be so easy since I don't even own a PS4 yet.
Surprisingly I took the announcement much more accepting than I would probably do but I'm a patient person and if it's a month delay well at least it's in the very start of the year of 2017 and not late march, early april. I won't give my hopes up for KH3 maybe having a release date in 2017, just imagine if you could have both 2.8 HD Remix, UX season 2 and KH3 in the same year that would for sure be magical but only time will tell.
Well, the only sad part of the delay is that the game is getting delayed alongside the KH announcement... :<
