At long last the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo begins! Throughout the week, we'll be bringing you a grand plethora of news directly from the show floor as Sign and Master Spockanort will be attending the event, while me (Gexus) and King Chaser with help from Zephyr, Taochan and Narukami are working hard covering home base! [FONT=Verdana]So words... no words! First off, Square is a total beast and uploads the COOLEST trailer EVER for Versus. Like, the gameplay, graphics, and young Noctis? OMG! No wonder the game took so long to come out! Has anyone seen awesome, realistic, cutscene-esque gameplay like this? Seriously. It looks so epic, and it is NOW XV and for PS4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana]Then, then just when I'm recovering from that, Nomura comes back and announces they're going to show another small trailer. Seeing as how at first it's the !.5 games, you can guess what I thought it was. Even with the other games, I thought it was II.5, as I didn't dare hope that it would be III. It was! It freaking was! OMG. Sora, whys you in your KHII clothes and looking weird? Why are you holding Eraqus' (?) Keyblade all confusingly? And then there's the fight with the Shadows much like the 1000 Heartless battle in II, but in Twilight Town. And then there's the logo, and-[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana]OMG! I am dead! I always thought I'd die when this happened, and I did. This is my ghost talking. BEST DAY EVER. LIFE MADE! BEST E3 EVER! I can't believe this is finally happening! I don't even care that Sora looks a bit weird, and there was no Kairi (something I was hoping for), I... Gah! People hold me and call a medic, I'm about to have a heart attack. Hell, I already did. OMG!
Oh, and then Sora has Eraqus' Keyblade. Interesting... And yay for the original team being back! Sora, Donald, and Goofy forever! Though I do wonder if there will be other teams, like with Riku and Kairi.[/FONT]

Words cannot contain, nor can they describe the sheer amount of awesomeness that has come from watching this trailer. After 7, long years, we finally get a glimpse at the long awaited Kingdom Hearts 3! A confused Sora, possibly wielding Master Eraqus's keyblade? Has Aqua possibly landed on Destiny Island somewhere, or sometime earlier? Then a swarm cloud, filled with heartless, as Sora run's, leaping from wall to wall in Twilight Town, lands on the cloud, ready to strike! What new worlds await our team of rag tag heroes Sora, Donald and Goofy? Will Riku and Kairi be playable characters this time around? What is Xehanort planning!? What about Axel being a keyblade wielder? And can we PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GET SOME KIND OF PIXAR WORLD INVOLVED HERE!

With the ff versus changed to ff15 and the announcement of kh3, it most certainly is Khinsider`s gold rush :) Im really looking forward to these next couple of days

But Nomura didn't say that during the Sony Stream so I'm not sure where that information is coming from.
They may have been in the planning stages in 2010, as I think Nomura stated in some interview (can't find it right now, too many there) that he started on conceptualizing the story of KH III.

Development is a pretty rough term so really, as long as Nomura was planning out the most basic of basic things for KH3, it counts as development so it's entirely possible that one morning in 2010 Nomura thought of what Sora might look like when he takes a step...and that's development lol xD

Especially since people have said the development for Verxus-now xv-started in 2011, which is when I thought KH3 started.
2011 was when VXIII/XV development reached full swing, iirc.
"In Development" for KH3 probably just means that it's a high priority on S-E's list and thus has more resources dedicated to getting it out there since the KH team is probably juggling both KH3 and on a lesser level 2.5 HD.

EDIT: It's on X1? Wasn't really expecting that but okay. I think it's weird, considering XBOX users have missed out on KH1, KH2 for quite a bit now. Kinda inconsistent but whatever.

Overall I don't mind it too much, I mean it'll help get the word out about KH3 and more sales so I understand...but I'm confused as to why no Wii U? It would have been smarter there since KH games have at least existed on Nintendo consoles :(
Because the Wii U hardware sucks and no one will go to all the trouble for such a small market. The game clearly runs on the new engine, the Wii U can't handle it.
It's not terrible that's it's on the One. I guess they will develop it for the PS4 (which is stronger) and will port it. The good thing is that the architecture is similar and they won't have problems with it.

A balence would be the correct way. Show he's grown more, but he's still Sora. The wrong thing would be any overdrawn drama between Sora (Mature) and Kairi. I swear if thinking of her body gets into this canon, there will be hellfire to pay.

How would they become bad games? I'm sure SE will just make them primarily for the PS4 and then port them to Xbox One so a lot of attention will be put into the games, SE won't mess either game up after the waiting that ensued for both games.

Yea PS4 is the best console this gen in every way, and it's cheaper. If the uninformed gaming marked understands what MS is doing and that the PS4 is more powerful even though its cheaper, the PS4 will be like rare diamonds this holiday season.

I don't understand the moaning and groaning over the XBOX One port. So what if it gets ported? SE knows better than to let that diminish the quality of a game that's been hyped for so many years, and since everything is on pre order its not like anyone has lost any money buying the wrong console...

I don't mind tbh, Since BBS and DDD were some of the best games for me throughout the whole series. Why are you tentative about it?
Because they developed (yes solid) titles for handhelds and I wonder if in the early stages of development they can handle the scope and depth and that Kh3 needs, far beyond anything bbs and ddd had. The FFXV team will hopefully shuffle around and move some its people to KH3 once it is close to release stage.

Because they developed (yes solid) titles for handhelds and I wonder if in the early stages of development they can handle the scope and depth and that Kh3 needs, far beyond anything bbs and ddd had. The FFXV team will hopefully shuffle around and move some its people to KH3 once it is close to release stage.
Scope/depth in regards to gameplay or story?
In regards to gameplay, I guess there's some reason to be questionable, given that a main console title clearly will require more time and effort than the handheld games. However, I enjoyed the gameplay mechanics of both BBS and DDD, so I have faith that they can recreate a similar experience. In regards to story, I don't think there's anyone more suitable.

Aaawww man..! I'm super excited about kingdom hearts III after nearly 10 years of waiting. but, but... why does it have to be released to playstation 4? I just get my playstation 3, and I don't want to buy a new platform yet.. though if they would release an updated version of it, so you could play all your old games too. that would be all different story. Looking forward :3

Kingdom Hearts 3 is still years away. It won't be released until like 2015 or later, so you have plenty of time to enjoy your PS3 and save up for a PS4. :)

It's clear that PS3 'saga' (I have no other word...seriously) is ending, and by the time they release it, it will have definitely ended. I think it's logical to release it on the PS4.

So, I'm looking at the scans of the artbook, and they are amazing! The one in The Hundred Acre Woods just makes me all nostalgic:) And the one where Sora's crying... is it bad that I want to use that as my icon? It's just so dang cute, and makes me want to give Sora a hug.
I also like the one where it looks like he's saying, "Eh?" or something like that. It reminds me of that meme someone made that said "No pie?", and they used the screenshot of Sora's face when confronting Demyx at HB.
And the one where Sora's angry just looks like he's saying, "Objection! That's a lie. I remember everyone from the Islands!" or something like that. LOL. It's just a CoM face, you know? (As that was the game he got the angriest in.) Though that line I just used was actually Riku's. LOL. (Well, not the "objection" part, but you know what I mean.)
Also, is it me... or does the Neko-Sora remind anyone else of Neku a bit?
Now that I've got the positive out of the way, let's talk about the negative. Why does this say "See the magic behind Sora, Riku, and the immersive Disney worlds", but it says nothing about Kairi? Why is she always getting left out in every way shape and form? It's just sad. I'm starting to get worried again, guys.
Most likely I'm overreacting (and Nomura wants to keep the Kairi stuff under raps), but I was also bothered by the fact they're like, "Oh. Sora's looking for the key to awaken people, and Riku's looking for the lost Keyblade wielders." Once again, they say nothing about Kairi. It might be because whatever they have planned for her will be a big spoiler for III, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. -sigh- If only people would think to ask about her in interviews.

Oh, that's awesome that Shimomura-san is there! She's such a talented, and sweet lady. And honestly, it's only right she's there for this monumental event: I.5, III, XV (which are titles she's poured her heart and soul into) all made appearances...Yeah, this lovely composer more than deserves to go to E3, be recognized, and enjoy the show:D

And they took a little less than 2 weeks? I did them in short spurts, made all the stars in a few days when I was still looking for a job, then sticking the leaves in was split up throughout time time when I started working.
The bottle itself is around 6-7 inches tall (can't remember), so the stars are pretty small xD There are 1000 in there, enough for one wish!

Practically any video game related website will often put Half Life 3 and Kingdom Hearts III in posts of "games I really wish would come out already".
The idea of that is more popular than Versus XIII, not the actual game itself.

Well, there is another year until the next E3. I'm sure you may have finished it until then. ^__^
To be fair I was always disgusted/annoyed with the overhype for KH III, especially since from 2006 to 2009 there was explicitly stated that there won't be a KH III for a while. 2009/10 was the first time Nomura actually acknowledged that there would be a KH III at all. Not to mention the very real danger of getting a second incident like we had with KH II in the end.
I agree though that because of that hype it is no surprise it would be on a list of highly anticipated games. Even without the hype I would have expected it there, as games like BBS and DDD were also high up on such lists.

Yeah, the more info, the less hype in this case. People have grown skeptical about XV(well some have) and KH3 had no prior info at all.
Anyway, Sign, you are one lucky girl! Of course, you're lucky to even be able to attend, but even more so to meet the FFIX team!

Well, I say "incident" but that may actually not be entirely correct in terms of semantics, as it boiled practically down to this:
Step 1: KH 2 was ridiculously overhyped by the fanbase for more than a year.
Step 2: Expectations skyrocketed all over the place.
Step 3: KH 2 was released and caused a huge rift in the fanbase with much love on one and even more hate on the other side because it didn't met the overblown expectations.
Step 4: On top of this the pacing, writing and dialogue of the game was in some cases really mediocre which caused even more discontent.
The way this is going right now with the fanbase, the concern of a repeat of all the above may not be entirely unfounded.

I cannot say I'm shocked. KH3 is definitely more anticipated than FFXV overall. Although by very little, I think KH3 definitely wins. IGN did a "Which conference won?" poll and as the main image they had Mario, Master Chief, and Sora from the KH3 trailer. Likewise, right after the Sony conference, they had a "all confirmed games for PS4 so far" list and the main image was Sora from DDD. KH3 is clearly a huge announcement because a lot of people knew FFXV was going to be discussed, KH3...barely anyone.
The way this is going right now with the fanbase, the concern of a repeat of all the above may not be entirely unfounded.
Oh no, it will definitely happen again. It happens with every game out there that some like it a lot and some aren't pleased, it just happens even more in overhyped games :( And KH3 right now is the definition of hype >_<

I tend to partly agree with that notion simply because of how many things KH III has (and should) address in terms of both plot points and characters. In the set-up we have now there is great potential for a true epic, but also several stumbling blocks they can trip over easily.
It will surely depend on how much time and effort Nomura is willing to let the team put into the scenario, the dialogue and who they get as scriptwriters.

At the very least, there's no way they could distribute the plot elements as badly as they did with KH2 and DDD. I think the worst case scenario would be that the resolutions/inclusion of some oft speculated elements would not be up to the imagined scenarios we've built up in our minds. Which once again boils down to the anticipation and for some people it is indeed inevitable. Which is why I only ever imagine these scenarios within a given frame, like Lea's story in DDD.
