World Trigger (Welp, Manga > Anime)

Anybody reads World Trigger?

It's a new manga in Shonen Jump with tactical battles, although they've just started happening around chapter 26, and some slight gore due to the characters using fake bodies in combat. I do believe that the fake bodies won't become an issue when it comes to having a real threat because it looks like they will be going to the another world, where their enemies the neighbors, come from.

It's also a team-battle based manga with every person playing a role. Unlike it's most successful predecessors', it's a Sci-Fi manga and relies on technology and innovations. Combine it's Sci-Fi and the fact that it has team based tactical battles and you got a manga that's doesn't mess around with it's continuity and details.

Re: World Trigger

Bump.

With a recent ranking of 3rd and 50k sales, World Trigger has been slowly fulfilling it's potential. 43 chapters in, the manga has been developed well.

Steady on time pacing
Tactical battles and interesting character development
An expansive world ripe for adventure.

Some cons? The art isn't all of that but it gets better as it goes which is pretty normal. There's also the issue that character design isn't as great yet but the personalities of every main character so far has been colorful enough to the point where it's easy to distinguish who is who(except for like one character because he seems like a carbon copy of Jin but we haven't really had time to see actual development for the guy yet).

Osamu and Yuuma are an odd couple but they work well being opposites.

o_o Also Chapter 43 is the introduction of a new, probably short, high-action arc I believe.

Re: World Trigger

So. They're going to be working on an anime soon. That was pretty quick. Anyways, am I still the only one over on KHI that reads this? It's a good manga...real good with pacing better than 2/3 of the big three. It's actually reminiscent of the early Bleach and Naruto when you consider that Border is like the Gotei 13 and has several factions inside of it and the battles are heavily based on teamwork and technique like early Naruto.

We've been introduced to a slew of Border agents with many of them actually getting some development just as soon as they were brought in. You can like the main cast(Osamu, Yuuma, Chika, Jin, Ai) or you could like the side characters who offer up their own personalities.

I mean, I can only sell it so much to you guys. Just read a few of the chapters yourself.

Re: World Trigger

I will likely wait for the anime to start before giving it a chance...which is a gamble when it comes to Jump adaptations considering their bouts of quality over the years.

Surprised this got an anime over other Jump series though.

Assassination Classroom and Food Wars are the ones I keep hearing about that should've had an anime too but idk.

To me, I think it's because World Trigger is building itself up to be a major battle shonen down the road and that since Naruto is ending really soon, there will be a major spot for viewership and whatnot of the same crowd.

But also World Trigger is also really popular despite being overshadowed by the other battle mangas with much longer running time.

Re: World Trigger

Those are pretty much my top 2 for getting adaptations...I'm not sure if it's Shokugeki's almost pornographic nature when it comes to reactions that is holding it back...

I don't think it'll be another battle series to take Naruto or Bleach's place when they end...

Re: World Trigger

Where can you read World Trigger and how many chapters are in it currently? It almost sounds interesting enough to get into. :3

Sure there will. Dragon Ball found it's replacement in One Piece/Naruto/Bleach and I can see the same happening with Naruto and Bleach finding their replacement in some new series.

World Trigger Manga - Read World Trigger Online For Free

It starts off slow like any manga but picks up around...Chapter 20.

We're currently at like Chapter 62 but the unofficial translations haven't caught up yet for whatever reason. The official translations release around the same time as the original material. I'm assuming that now that there's an anime coming soon, the translation teams will focus more on the manga.

Edit: The only real issue, and it's kinda not an issue, I have with the manga is that Osamu, one of the two deuteragonist, progresses slowly while having low combat potential in the beginning. I mean, it makes me root for the guy all of the time but still. It's also kinda refreshing compared to other mangas where the main character(s) are always OP or escaping a loss simply because they're the heroes(Naruto & Sasuke).

Re: World Trigger

Bump.

World Trigger had it's first popularity poll. Apparently it proves that the manga really has a cult following behind it because there's been like a 100 characters voted on despite only being 63 chapters in and there's a unique ranking of characters which is indifferent to their importance to the story and overall screentime. Apparently it outdid another manga named Nisekoi which had less votes in it's second popularity poll.

Re: World Trigger

Anime is coming in October. I believe it'll be premiering the first Sunday at 6:30 PM. I'll bump this thread with a trailer and stuff whenever we get one.

It looks better than I originally hoped it would.

Can't wait until we start seeing Miwa, and the Tamakoma branch, and Kitora Ai.

The current arc is definitely gonna look pretty if they keep the art style and quality...

I'm definitely impressed with the premise and animation, I'm going to give this a try when it comes out.

Bump.

Naruto's over. Go read World Trigger because right now the Manga > Anime in quality. It's only about 80 chapters in and at around chapter 40-50(which are translated already on sites) you can decide whether or not you like the manga.

Also while it's not up to date with the official releases, I do know a guy from another site that's working with a team to get back on time. Currently they're at chapter 61 (we're up to 81 right now).

When you realize that Ashihara Daisuke was going to make World Trigger initially into a sports-based manga, all of the battles make complete sense. Very tactical and a lot of planning happens.

Haven't felt this excited for battles in forever, and I truly haven't thought this hard on how battles will go in the longest of time. When Osamu was planning for the current battle, I didn't expect them to pick the map best fit for the snipers. And I also didn't expect him to use the map to force Suwa Unit and their unit into a faux alliance, to take out the Arafune Unit. It was some clever stuff. Makes me think about when I used to play strategic games or run a match with my corporation in Dust 514.

And Osamu goes from foolish weakling to a Strategic Leader. He's not a mastermind but the way he thinks about each encounter... It's incredible really. Well incredible coming from someone everyone deemed as extremely weak.
