Why is Xehanort old again?

Why would his body be recompleted as his old self? He left that body behind, and he certainly doesn't want to be old again and so wouldn't make himself that way. Shouldn't he still have Terra's body?

It's a deliberate mystery as to why that happened, but the fact that he would return as Master Xehanort was already implied in the secret ending of Re: Coded.

Q: What happened to Terra's heart and body?
A: In this game, Master Xehanort does not appear in the form of Terra-Xehanort when he transferred his heart, but as the old man he was before he took control of Terra's body. During the revival, what happened to Terra's body, and Terra's heart that was in opposition to Xehanort's control? In Kingdom Hearts, Birth by Sleep, it is to be considered that it was thought the whereabouts of the heart of Terra's master, Eraqus rested within his body.

There have been several threads and theories already about this topic, and that's exactly what Nomura intended with the whole issue.

The actual answer to that will only be revealed within the story of KH III somewhere.

That's still a mystery that hopefully will be explained in KH3. In one of his interviews, Nomura only gave us a little brain-tease; he posed the question himself, "What happened to Terra's body and heart?"

Theories abound, ranging from that Xehanort somehow came back as his old self due to uncommon circumstances (Xemnas being Terra's body and the Robed Figure and Ansem SoD being his own heart) to that he discarded Terra's body some time after his resurrection and somehow regained his elderly form. That said, it's all up in the air for guesses.

I just think that, after Sora defeated Ansem, Xehanort's and Terra's hearts were separated, Xehanort was alive and well, but stayed behind the scenes to watch his plan come into fruition, and Terra's heart, dormant, went back into his body, Xemnas (unaffected, seeing as how he had a mind of his own and, in any case, Terra's heart would be seeded).
