Probably still Eraqus for a few reasons
1. Eraqus has more experience and wisdom (because he's older)
2. Eraqus is a keyblade master and Sora failed his exam

Sora's exam was rigged as well. And Eraqus fell to his own student. Sure he held back, but he knew fully well what MX was up to. Eraqus could have done something instead of sending his students.

Very good points! I think Eraqus sent his students not because he isn't powerful enough to handle the mission but to help further train them so whenever he would die (sooner than he thought) his students would be ready for another attack from the darkness.

Meaning the creation of the X-blade? Was he aware of that?

It's more likely that he sent them cause it's his job to guard the LoD. The LoD always has a "true successor" among keyblade masters guarding it and thus he can't leave it easily, especially when he senses danger like the unversed who could attack while he's gone.

So maybe its more than just sending his student for training because he has a heavy burden to carry by always staying in LoD? So he can never leave?

I wouldn't say he can't ever leave, he did after all find students, but he does need to stay there in times of potential threat.

Not to mention that no one was expecting the problem to be so big. TAV and ME were just made aware of a "pest problem" in the form of the Unversed. They didn't know how and things really were until much later.

In regards to who is the strongest, I don't think the master title necessarily means much because it really is more of a formality. Who gets to be named master depends on the teacher and what traits they find worthy. Eraqus for one was highly prejudice towards the darkness and failed Terra because he let it show, not because he wasn't strong enough. Before the exam even began, Eraqus even mentions that Terra and Aqua are "of equal strength".

If Yen Sid is training others how to become keyblade masters I just assume he has once wielded a keyblade.

Yeah, Yen Sid was a Keyblade Master but he retired. Everyone is curious about what that may have looked like. XD

Yeah the whole master title is more about recognition of keyblade mastery and responsibility, not actual power. Terra shows that by being able to due the rite on Riku.

Hmmm good question. Sora has come up against and bested most everyone. We know he's stronger than Riku, so the only real question is, is he stronger than Mickey, Eraqus, Ventus, and Aqua. I say probably, yeah.

I think Sora easily has the potential to be the most powerful character in the series, but I don't think he is quite at that level yet. He probably will be by the end of KH3, though. Just focusing on right now, it seems like Mickey has shown the most power so far. He passed his Mark of Mastery Exam, he helped seal Kingdom Hearts, he escaped the Realm of Darkness, he takes over when you die in Kingdom Hearts II battles, and Yen Sid seems to admire him a great deal. Not to mention he also appears to be a great king.

^ Yep, King Mickey is one of the strongest keyblade wielders in the entire saga more for the powerful spells and the inusual agility he shows when he fights, but in terms of brutal strenght Terra takes the first place; he managed to fight and win against people like Eraqus, Master Xehanort, Vanitas and the most powerful incarnation of Xehanort, Terranort! Only with the strenght of his will!

Even though Terra may be physically stronger than Mickey, I still believe Mickey would be the strongest out of the two of them. The power of their hearts also plays a huge role in their strength as well.
