Labour report backs all-black shortlists | Politics | The Observer
The Guardian reveals that a report - commissioned by Harriet Harman (deputy leader, NuLabour) - recommends that restrictions be placed on white people being able to stand for parliament in up to 100 constituencies, for up to 20 years. All-black (or asian) 'shortlists' of candidates must be imposed on the electorate, in order to correct a perceived shortfall in the ethnic balance of parliament.
The report is presumably impeccably researched and completely impartial. Its author is one Simon Woolley, who runs something called "Operation Black Vote". Ah.. right... so no preconceptions THERE then
But in any case, does anyone actually agree with this? is reverse racism/racism acceptable for politics? (this also goes hand in hand with white men being rejected by police in favor of women and minority groups for the sake of balancing the required quota)
