Basically, they were brought together because they went through an 'awakening' and got their keyblades. Since it seems masters have a knack for telling when somebody is about to be chosen [ex. MX watching Ven going through his Awakening at DI].

Not entirely sure though. D: Terra and Aqua are a bit of a mystery to me but I think they went through the same thing and ended up being trained by master Erauqs since they already lived at Land of Departure.

You can't just hand someone a Keyblade. A Keyblade chooses it's Master. Also, Kairi doesn't have a Keyblade. The incredibly feminine Keyblade Riku hands to Kairi is his own.

Well it seems the stained glass areas A.K.A dive to the heart is what the inside of a heart looks like. So the awakening appears to be the awakening of the ability to use the keyblade judging by Ven's awakening. So I assume Terra and Aqua had an awakening and thus they go their keyblades then Eraqus accepted them as his apprentices.

Agreed. Riku def touched Terra's keyblade. On top of that Riku to the keyblade from Sora (though there are all kinds a theories about that) and Riku took Roxas' keyblade.

Well TAV were chosen by the keyblade.
Riku was select by Terra, but lost it to Sora.
Sora was chosen by the keyblade.

It seems a person can be either chosen by the keyblade or given one by the one who already has a keyblade. But it's the keyblade that really has the final decision.

Agreed. Didn't Nomura also say that other qualification of wielders would be known in BBS. I think this is what he meant.

He did say something of the sort earlier.
There isn't necessarily one Keyblade for the dark side and one for the light side, just as many as there exist people with qualified hearts. Concerning the conditions to wield one, at this stage, "Those with strong hearts" is the only obvious one. However, less obvious conditions still exist and there are still plans for an opportunity to reveal those.
From the sounds of it, he planned to explain the other requirement. As far as I know nothing of the sort appeared in BBS.

What I do know is that if someone has a strong heart, they can wield one. Like for example, Riku was chosen to be the Keyblade Master before Sora, but sense he had darkness approaching him, he lost his chance. As for Xion and Roxas, they have connections to him. As for Kairi, the Keyblade is not hers. Riku lent it to her to use, but it's not really hers.

like how Xion is a Replica of Sora, while Roxas is his Nobody.

I agree with previous posted on the topic, but on the subject of why others can use peoples keyblades I think it is because if you have a keyblade, you have the ability to wield any keyblade.

RIku and Sora use their keyblades pretty interchangably in the final KH2 fight.

Riku touched Terra's keyblade, creating the assumption he could wield it. (prolly a spoiler, but its already been said.

Riku gave Kairi his(?) keyblade.

I think that a keyblade will only really reject someone if their motives are not in the right place. I mean, like if evil Riku had tried to wield the Kingdom Key near in KH1, I don't think the Kingdom Key would've allowed it.

Keyblades aren't really biased to the darkness or light in peoples hearts, but more their motives from what I've gathered.

Er, someone tell me how to change this into a spoiler, what follows I mean.

Doesn't Ventus make his keyblade dematerialize then materialize again when Vanitas grabs it? Maybe that was the keyblade itself rejecting Vanitas.

Based on what the Lingering Sentiment said to Sora in KH2 final mix+.
Keyblade...

Who are you?

I can feel it... We have met before

It was when before....

No... it isn't you....

It isn't you that I have chosen...

Why is it not him...

Now that we know that fight was canon and that LS was made up of Terra's memories and feelings it's clear that Riku was selected to have the keyblade by Terra.
