Another possibility is just that SE is saving most of their announcements for the Switch successor and PS5 Pro to be revealed. But that is at least months away, so it doesn’t really explain Visions of Mana due out by September.

But they may just shadow drop a release date trailer for it in the next few weeks and then just have a launch trailer at one of the TGS season events.
At this point this is how I feel. Honestly not just SE, but I could see a lot of companies, especially Japanese ones, saving their stuff for Switch 2.

Someone on Reddit made the mistake of havin their statement of "better communication from Square would be nice" be after an angry rant and thus got hit with the "KH fans are insufferable, entitled, etc"

I do find the lack of Square Enix Japan's presence in the summer gameshows interesting. With new CEO and new structure, it's harder to predict how SE will approach their releases and marketing. I think this summer's showcase could be the first glimpse of "new" SE strategy.

Visions of Mana is still slated for this summer, and it missing from these shows makes me feel it could be delayed. Maybe the new CEO's "quality over quantity" approach could be something that he would rather delay it to release it in great state rather than just release it and fix it later approach.

I do expect SE to show up at Nintendo direct and probably show off DQIII HD-2D.

This was the last leaked info on VoM, which Midori supported:

Basically, the PS4 version is delayed, but it is set to release on time for the other platforms. Midori herself also claimed that the release date info would be coming soon.

Things could have changed, but we’ll see. The delay with the PS4 version is why a reveal at the Direct would be a little weird even if it is being ported to Switch. One would think that would take even longer than PS4.

But they may just shadow drop a release date trailer for it in the next few weeks and then just have a launch trailer at one of the TGS season events.

Well there it is. Lol. Visions of Mana trailer premieres on 6/12. That squashed any ideas of an SE show.

I can only assume Missing Link will get the same treatment whenever it is time to see it again.

I...don't really know why ONE trailer would just squash the idea of a whole SE "direct" even tho I think a show is unlikely

If they were doing one this month, they’d probably have the game there. That way fans of all their other franchises tuning in would see it. Hope this helps.

If you already think it was unlikely, why does it matter?

Well, Summer Game Fest sure was disappointing. Don't know if Square will do their own thing later this month or we will still have to wait months for the next trailer. I'm also waiting for the official reveal of FF9 Remake. Whenever that happens.

I’m glad they did this 13, 7, 3 countdown instead of doing one every day. (Specifically with this format where they’re just posting the same thing and changing the art/number. Lol)

Wednesday could be the Visions of Mana trailer and then a KH 2024 trailer on Thursday or Friday? The Direct is probably next week or the week after, so they could take advantage of the dip in gaming news later this week or next to show Missing Link at least. (They should know when the Direct will be since DQ trilogy is likely there.)

Not a big thing, but just thought I’d point out that the Prince of Persia video game has been announced for a 2026 release window. This is the first major game I’ve seen actually set for that year. We’ve officially crossed the threshold that 2026 release windows are being set, so we could potentially hear about KH4’s officially any time. After all, Rebirth’s was set about a year and 8 months in advance.

Has the pre-registration been officially delayed, or is it just taking longer than we thought it would?

On second thought, maybe they should wait so they don’t get articles like this. Lol

Obviously Prince of Persia has had a much more tumultuous development, but still.

Nothing officially announced. Maybe they have a very specific date in mind for the announcement, but the merch needed to be on shelves before that due to a contract with the retail stores or something. Who knows.

I think if we don’t hear anything by Friday when the ports are out in Japan, it was probably an unplanned delay. If they do announce it alongside the ports, then that was probably the plan all along.

If we want to be silly, the ports are out the 14th in Japan. Which may be a new “magic number” for KH. (Xehanort’s 14th lifetime, questions 4 and 10 having special marks in the Dark Road Q&A lol) So maybe it’ll be a big day for KH. Beyond that, I have no ideas until D23.

What if... they do it again? 👀
