We got FF in Magic The Gathering before KH in Lorcana:
Well, kinda sorta spoke too soon:
I've been out of the game for a while so I don't know for sure. But these cards seem pretty good, but not so good they'll be banned. What do you think of them so far?
Terra essentially casting the Life spell is pretty cool. I'd want to make a deck with her.
For context, these are for Commander format decks, which are typically 4 player free-for-alls rather than 1v1. Which means often times the player with the strongest deck is getting ganged up on by the other 3 & becomes the 1st one eliminated. That said, these cards will also be legal in Standard tournament format (the 1st crossover set to get this honor), so there's still the chance of them being busted.
Terra's apparently meant to reflect the World of Ruin portion of FF6 where you're rebuilding the party after the destruction of the world. In which case, one would think Celes would've been the commander.
Cloud is what players call a "Voltron" deck: a card that gets big & powerful when other cards are combined with it. In this case, equipment. I assume not only will there be multiple of Cloud's swords be in there but also the weapons of other party members, whom will likely be among the creature cards. Incidentally, the only commander deck I own atm moment is a Dogmeat from Fallout precon I got for Christmas. Dogmeat is also equipment focused and in the same 3 colors. If I only get 1 FF deck, I might be skipping this one for redundancy.
Tidus loves counters, maybe that reflects scoring points to him? This likely will mean stacking +1/+1 counters for making all of your creatures stronger, but the proliferate ability also covers things like poison or energy counters, the latter of which would fit Al Bhed perfectly.
Y'shtola's the odd one out by not relying on other creatures but going for big spells instead. Green is usually the go-to color for mana acceleration, so her deck may be slow to get going.
