Oh I was talking bouncing off your post about theorising on if they got moved to KH4 to help out, not a separate game entirely.

Yeah if they were to just work on KH4, then it could be in a similar capacity to the Rebirth staff helping. Give them an opportunity to learn UE5 from the main staff for a bit and then work on another game later. (Or go back to ML when they need more content later if it is successful.)

This would also likely depend on if ML development is outsourced or not though. If it’s made by a third party, it probably wouldn’t be as easy for them to collaborate on 4. With Kitase now having two creative studios though, I’m hoping the KH team expanded internally rather than externally.

The promo cycle could look something like this:

Trailer #1: March 2025. Quadratum re-reveal. (ML is also shown at this time and announces pre-registration)

Trailer #2: April 2025 at Star Wars Celebration. Star Wars reveal.

Trailer #3: June 2025 at Summer Games Fest. 2nd Disney world reveal. (ML launch trailer here as well with either a June/July release)

Trailer #4: September 2025 either at a State of Play or another TGS event. 3rd world and release date reveal. First playable demo at TGS.

Trailer #5: December 2025 The Game Awards. 4th world reveal and theme song reveal.

Trailer #6: January/February 2026 at State of Play, Xbox event, etc. 5th world reveal.

Trailer #7: March 2026. Final trailer and world reveal.

Game releases in April 2026. Four years from the initial reveal and 13 months after the re-reveal trailer… 7 trailers over 13 months. 🤯

Ok, so let’s say KH4 is releasing by spring 2026 for its promo cycle to not overlap with VIIR-3 which will likely kick off June 2026. We will almost certainly get a trailer for each of KH4’s world reveals. Let’s be reasonably modest and say KH4 will only have 5 Disney worlds this time and 2 original worlds. So 7 trailers minimum including a Quadratum re-reveal.

(And if this doesn’t happen, see yall in 2028!)
Seems like good timeline.
Personally I still feel there is higher chance of KH4 re-reveal at one of the console holder's showcase (Sony SoP/Nintendo Direct) but obviously wouldn't rule out anniversary.

I think it's very important that once they re-reveal the game, they should go on full marketing cycle until launch, something similar to FF7 Rebirth.

an appearance at state of play hypothetically could save SE the trouble of not having to use a switch 2 logo or whatever, if that's something companies still aren't allowed to do.

That'd work for the PlayStation upload of the trailer during and after a show, but on the Square Enix and Kingdom Hearts accounts they'd have all platform logos included at the end so they'd still need to use a Nintendo logo, if it does land on Nintendo Switch day 1. Nintendo would also need the logo for when they upload a trailer to their social pages.

Edit: If, after 3 years, they still don't want to announce platforms yet then I guess it would make sense for SE to do their own show for that very purpose + including mobile games. But it'd be stupid and tone deaf to not reveal that information the next time we see the game.

Edit 2: Isn't this the Switch 2 logo? They should be allowed to use that since it's been publicly shown

I assumed the whole point of announcing Switch 2 early months before the direct is so that the companies can officially announce their games on Switch 2 without having to wait until April.

yeah. switch 2 logo is public and was even recently trademarked but announcing that your game is dropping on the system is not yet allowed. i imagine the big N wanna show off the console's capabilities first before they reveal what first party and third party games will be dropping for it.

Interesting. If that's the case, I guess they could announce it first on everything except Switch (if they announce it before the April Direct), and add Switch 2 later after the Direct.
I don't think it would be a big issue unless they want to make a statement by announcing it in April Direct to show their commitment to Switch 2 or something.

I think they may be able to vaguely say that it’s coming to Nintendo platforms, but still can’t officially use the Switch 2 logo or say it’s coming to that specific platform by name. In the Shovel Knight video they posted last week, they are still just using the standard Nintendo logo.

Also, Disney Step started pre-registration last week. My guess is it releases in April, so we probably won’t see ML until after that.

A Friday and a holiday seems like an unusual choice given these typically happen Tuesday-Thursday.

I stg if Nomura shows us Xehanort’s 14th lifetime on the 14th AND a day themed around hearts. And 14/2 is 7. lol

Even if it’s not KH4, I hope SE shows something. It’s dry as hell out here.

Could be a situation where the time zone they’re in is the 14th when the rest of the world is in the 13th. That’d happen to me, similarly like if it is the 14th then for me it’s the 15th

Yeah definitely possible. If this person is from Brazil, I’d think they’d be going by their timezone which would put either the 14th worldwide or the 14th/15th if it’s later in the day. But they could have gotten their info from a JP source or something that would have said the 14th.

"Many environments felt overly large but empty, often resembling long hallways rather than interconnected spaces."

I know they aren't saying THE hallway game of the series is better in this regard xD

I'm waiting for that next KH4 trailer just so these so-called journalists can use some other KH4 pictures for their clickbait articles rather than the same ones from 2022.

To be fair, smaller worlds=more worlds. If a KH3 sized production was making KH2 sized worlds, it'd be a game with like 2 dozen levels. Not hard to see an appeal in that.

tbf, kh2 is by far the most beloved game in the core fandom, yet the sheer crappiness of its worlds is a widely shared consensus even among its biggest fans. it'd be weird to bring back the one thing people generally don't like about that game lol

It just comes down to whether they want quantity over quality or quality over quantity.

I find the article to be a bit pointless though because the worlds have been chosen and worked on for years now and we’ve known since 2022 that there’ll be less worlds. Just feels like “back in my day we had it better” mentality.

A lot of their arguments raised are also not solved by adding in more worlds or having multiple visits either, but having a bit more of an overall arc with each world rather than holding story and villains back to the end of the game. Before Final Mix, a wide consensus was that KH2’s worlds sucked and the stories in there didn’t matter to the overall game. Recency bias will have people hate KH4 and remember what KH3 did fondly, and I’m not strong enough to go through all that again lol

The article also says that adding in a materia system would fix the lack of Square Enix representation. I don’t get what the hell this person is going for cause if every FF reference thrown into KH3 was hated by fans, stealing materia loadouts doesn’t fix that.

Just a weird mishmash of one person’s wants disguised as an article that ultimately doesn’t matter to anything because none of it would ever be considered for KH4.
