i don't mind a slight discrepancy if it's out everywhere within a week's time-- it's wholly unnecessary and a bit dumb but nothing that'd ruffle my cute little feathers. KH3 leaking in December 2018 granted me a level of inhuman strength when it comes to just not looking or thinking about it

6 years ago to this minute I got my KH3 PS4 Pro and the game.

What a magical time it was watching the progress bar for hours transferring data from my old regular PS4 to the PS4 Pro <3

Based on Yooka-Replaylee’s latest trailer, it seems third party studios may still be under embargo from confirming any titles coming to Switch 2. If they have to wait until April 2nd, seems unlikely we’d get an SE showcase in February focused on Switch 2 games.

- KH4 Star Wars reveal at SWC late April
- ML launch trailer and another KH4 trailer at SGF.

We got Clair Obscur Expedition 33 becoming a movie before Missing-Link, KH4, and Disney actually making a Kingdom Hearts show.

And before the game itself released.

Ok, so let’s say KH4 is releasing by spring 2026 for its promo cycle to not overlap with VIIR-3 which will likely kick off June 2026. We will almost certainly get a trailer for each of KH4’s world reveals. Let’s be reasonably modest and say KH4 will only have 5 Disney worlds this time and 2 original worlds. So 7 trailers minimum including a Quadratum re-reveal. The promo cycle could look something like this:

Trailer #1: March 2025. Quadratum re-reveal. (ML is also shown at this time and announces pre-registration)

Trailer #2: April 2025 at Star Wars Celebration. Star Wars reveal.

Trailer #3: June 2025 at Summer Games Fest. 2nd Disney world reveal. (ML launch trailer here as well with either a June/July release)

Trailer #4: September 2025 either at a State of Play or another TGS event. 3rd world and release date reveal. First playable demo at TGS.

Trailer #5: December 2025 The Game Awards. 4th world reveal and theme song reveal.

Trailer #6: January/February 2026 at State of Play, Xbox event, etc. 5th world reveal.

Trailer #7: March 2026. Final trailer and world reveal.

Game releases in April 2026. Four years from the initial reveal and 13 months after the re-reveal trailer… 7 trailers over 13 months. 🤯

(And if this doesn’t happen, see yall in 2028!)

Thinking about that rumour of Square Enix having their own Direct show, if the Sony and Nintendo directs are accurate for this month, and off the back of having had the opportunity to be a part of Xbox’s show last month, I’d wonder why Square Enix would feel like they had to have their own Direct.

Like if they’ve been approached to show whatever at either one or content at both if they have it, why would they then go “hmm yeah actually nah might as well do our own and get a fraction of the views”

I don't know, to me it makes just about as much sense as releasing an Action-RPG revolving around GPS-functions.

my pc is stronger than my ps5, but i'll be forced to double dip since my partner will want to sit on the couch with me when I play it the first time. that's potentially $140 for Big Square

Considering Missing Link has likely been in development for about 5 years now, I am hoping they will have most of the game’s content backloaded when it comes to implementing story updates, worlds, etc. Maybe they’ll only need limited staff for ongoing operations and the rest of the developers could either help with KH4 or work on something new altogether.

I’m doubting the likelihood of a SQEX Presents this month given there’s supposed to be a State of Play and another Direct. But maybe they’re committed to appearing neutral toward any specific platform if whatever games being announced will be multi-plat. It would also allow them to show any mobile games, which they can’t do at a first party console event.

I read from someone in the know that some Rebirth devs were moved over to work on KH4 last year while Re-three was getting set up and running, but they’re now back working on Final Fantasy. Not uncommon for that all to happen, but it’s nice to hear that after hearing that KH devs helped out on 16 during its downtime.

I do wonder how scalable the work is from Missing-Link on Mobile to a full console game. Helps that it’s just an Unreal Engine 4 to 5 difference, but I guess it’s more complex with shaders, detailing, and depth that’s missing in Missing-Link.

Yeah that’s definitely a positive sign. Considering they were talking about moving Part 3 to UE5, it was probably a good chance for those devs to go hands-on with it. I still think KH4’s development must be coming along fairly well on the engine for that to have even been a consideration for Part 3.

For the ML devs, if they were to work on a separate project, it may not be a UE5 game. I could see a UX remake using UE4 still and they could use a lot of the existing assets from ML.

Oh I was talking bouncing off your post about theorising on if they got moved to KH4 to help out, not a separate game entirely.
