Looks like everyone and their mother is hearing Switch 2 reveal is Thursday. (If true, guessing the 17th date previously mentioned was JP time.)
Excuse me while I'm at the "I don't believe you" phase of The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

It’s probably not KH4 since Kingdom Hearts only has two decades of history. Maybe Dragon Quest 12?

MoM2 with KH3 & BC worlds/assets is actually a possibility now that they don't have to support Switch.

Yes, he says in one of the responses that he has no idea what the schedule is and he is just assuming based on the plan for Nomura to be more involved with Part 3 than he was with Rebirth. But Nomura was heavily involved with Remake and KH3 at the same time, so I don’t think it really means that much.
Also, realistically, wouldn’t it be more likely that Nomura transitioning to a more hands on role with Part 3 would be because development on KH4 is far along/in a good place…? Plus there’s a whole team, co-director, etc etc—I can’t imagine they would split Nomura’s time between the two games in such a way that it would slow down KH4’s development that dramatically. I can’t say I understand Imran’s logic here. Unless he knows more he’s not letting on

ah shit, here we go again…

The Linking Hearts kuji event is back for round 2 in May. I believe this is the first time they’ve ever repeated one of these. The previous ones coincided with the releases of KH3, Melody of Memory, and the 20th anniversary. Maybe they’re running it back for Missing Link’s release, assuming that is what it was supposed to be for last year? It happened at the same time pre-reg was supposed to be open per the wafers, so I believe it was originally intended as a tie-in.

Yeah I wouldn't expect to mess it up again.... but with SE and KH team, you just can never be sure lol.

This has probably been theorized at some point over the past two years. But I think Nomura’s comment at the concert in 2023 may have been about Shinji Hashimoto officially retiring from Square Enix. Shinji retired the month after the anniversary event. Whatever the thing was, Nomura said it was right after that event, so the timing is right. Based on him joking with Shimomura about not knowing what he was talking about, it makes sense this is what he would have been referring to as she likely would have known about Shinji’s retirement as opposed to something crazy like Disney/SE telling them to scrap the game and restart, etc.

While it was already public knowledge at the time, the concert probably wasn’t the best time or place to get into Shinji’s retirement and all that. But it fits with the description of being something that changed the direction of the series since Shinji was literally the series’ co-creator.

oh that's pretty cool actually. the figures that come with that event are pretty great. gives more people a chance to grab one.

Not sure that would have had much impact tbh. They have already replaced Hashimoto with Hazama for KH producer/brand manager well before the retirement, so I am not sure that would have had much impact.

He was still in an advisory role at SE and had worked closely with Nomura on the franchise since its inception. It’s possible (probably even likely) that he had been helping with the transition of Hazama taking over that role and was continuing to give advice/input on things. That’s generally how these kind of leadership transitions go. He even said at the anniversary event he “will be stepping away”, as if he was still involved at the time.

And to be fair, I don’t think whatever it was really had that much impact since Nomura seemingly wasn’t worried about it by the time of the concert. But that was probably a big moment for Nomura and the dev team who worked with Shinji for so many years, even if they knew it was coming.

That could be true but his retirement mostly likely wasn't a all of sudden thing and more planned in advance, so it's not like Nomura and the co wouldn't have know about Hashimoto's retirement way in advance, unless his retirement was a sudden decision due to something he did negatively or something but there doesn't seems to be any indication on that.

And to be completely honest, I doubt Hashimoto would have had that sort of influence in KH or anything SE at that point of his career. He has been slowly transitioning into retirement since like 2019 by transitioning his roles for both KH and FF. That's not to say I am in any way downplaying his influence or impact at SE throughout his career or anything. I just personally feel his retirement wouldn't have had such impact on future of KH at that point of time.

As for the thing itself, I just think we make it bigger issue than what it might be because of the long silence since the reveal. It's natural that people are speculating it to be something big and more negative due to lack of new info on KH4 or the franchise in general. It might be nothing significant or anything negative, but the overall fan confidence on KH in general seems low due to lack of information so people are probably over-analzying this thing.

I mean it’s a real game that released almost a year ago (the 26th is the one year anniversary!). Costs less than $10 AUD on Steam.

Square Enix should quickly put out a Timeless River version of that game asap.
