Cynical claims in his latest video that a source told him SE is planning their own presentation/showcase in February and that’s why we haven’t heard anything at TGA, etc.

Definitely take it with a grain of salt, but I think this would actually track. They need to save the money on marketing and it’s cheaper to do it internally. It would likely be shortly after the rumored Switch 2 reveal, so they’d be free to show any games in development for that platform. And obviously they are backed up on announcements and have a lot that could generate significant hype for their own event. DQ1&2, DQ12, FF9, Remake Part 3 name reveal, ML, KH4, new Yoko Taro project, new Yoshi-P project, etc.

This would also be a prime time for a re-reveal of KH4 two months ahead of SWC, which makes sense for the Star Wars reveal.

The question is if the Switch 2 can actually run KH4 because of UE5.

W-what's this? Is hope stirring in my heart? I guess it's been so long, I almost forgot how to smile.

Actually, have we heard if Square Enix is going to be at Jump Festa 2025 at all?

Xenosaga shared their website for the event a few days ago. It’s barebones. Not even a stage for any presentations. It’s basically just a booth to play some trailers of already released games and sell merch.

Oh, damn. Actually, on that note: I just checked the Wikipedia page for games published / developed by Square Enix and their most recent release was Fantasian: Neo Dimension. So far, the games that have yet to be released are the Dragon Quest I&II remakes, Dragon Quest XII, Missing Link and KH4.

In the words of Xaldin, "When was the last time any one of us felt anything?"

Grain of salt, of course, but I can only hope.
Hey now, I've felt hungry once. I solved that by snacking continuously for the last 30 years.

That’s why I’ve been wanting the switch 2 to just be revealed. I’m tired of SE having held FFIX back for its reveal (and same with other companies that have been sitting on announcements waiting for the switch 2 to be shown)

I just want Switch 2 for Mario Kart 9 and to bring some competition back into the console business. I know Sony and Nintendo are quite different, but Sony will have to do SOMETHING to try and keep people interested when Nintendo starts dropping titles like Mario Kart.

I WILL triple dip on KH4 btw.

According to (supposedly reliable) leaker Samus Hunter, FF9 remake will be a Switch 2 launch title. As always, take this with a grain of salt.

Yeah this tracks. I think it would be a huge boost for the FF franchise honestly. Look how well DQIII’s remake did in Japan. A 1:1 FF remake releasing as hopefully a cross-gen title for both versions of the Switch would be huge I think. Not even counting the other platforms it would likely coming to.

And if there’s any merit to Cynical’s info, I could definitely see a second trailer happening in February/March at SE’s own event alongside trailers for ML, KH4, etc. Aside from possible Directs and State of Plays, there wouldn’t be many opportunities to show it to a big audience between January and summer. So doing their own thing would make sense.

samus hunter echoes leaks and insider info from others. so if the person they stole info from is wrong, they're wrong.

i miss old leak culture where legitimate leakers would remain anon without creating an online persona for themselves. clout's a hell of a drug.
