If we don’t get anything at the Game Awards, I’m honestly giving up on this game. Like, come on, how long do they need to make one game?

Also, this radio silence from Square about not just KH4 but also Missing Link is frustrating. Waiting until the end of the year to say, “Yeah, oopsie about Missing Link,” even though it was supposed to come out in the summer, is just ridiculous.

KH4 would be worth putting money in advertising at the game awards but Missing Link?

A 30 second ad at the Game Awards can cost 150k+

They advertised both Ever Crisis and Rebirth at SGF. The only idea is a similar double dip. And remember these mobile games usually do better numbers than console releases. DQ Walk has made like 5x what KH3 made and it’s a JP exclusive.

I think where Ever Crisis and DQ Walk succeed is pushing familiar iconography and characters to the forefront, where KH Missing Link is essentially an entirely new slice of the Kingdom Hearts universe without any familiar faces and, thus far, no Disney characters.

I also think conceptual simplicity helps mobile games succeed, and ML is not simple enough, and I think Square is aware that it doesn't have an excited audience. The most recent trailer (from over a year ago) hasn't even cracked half a million views. I'm definitely feeling a little concerned for the ideas Nomura decided to dedicate to this title being wasted

Destination D23 (a smaller scale D23 Fan Event (Expo)) takes place on August 21-23, 2025.
D23 returns to The Most Magical Place on Earth for the biggest Disney fan event of 2025… now at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World Resort, from August 29 – 31, 2025! D23 Gold Members will be among the first to hear exciting announcements and see sneak peeks from the many worlds of Disney—and relive favorite memories with behind-the-scenes stories, special guests, and so much more at this epic event. I get the concern and can certainly see that being the reality. But it’s also possible they’ve been waiting to advertise some of those “familiar” elements closer to release, particularly the Disney characters. The trailers we’ve had so far are obviously geared toward the more dedicated fans of the series. I think they did that knowing they wanted to save stuff like the Disney worlds and characters for when they open pre-registration. That’s when they’ll start really marketing it to the general audience.

Assuming it’s ready for a trailer development-wise, I guess whether it appears or not will be a sign of if they have faith that the game has a chance. To me, the previous trailers not doing big numbers is all the more reason to show it at an event like TGA as opposed to just dropping it online. If they have stuff to show that will have more widespread appeal, this is the best opportunity they have.

Destination D23 (a smaller scale D23 Fan Event (Expo)) takes place on August 21-23, 2025.

It’s cool to see they are expanding it. Destination D23 is usually just minor updates on parks stuff. But sounds like this one will be more substantial. I may see if I can get into it since I’m in that area.

Exactly this. ML is a game for no one. It's too complicated for a gacha, and too simple to be a real game. At best, hardcore fans are willing to give it a chance, but I don't know what the market's meant to be.

Speedstorm is dreadful, I’d never recommend it anymore

Yeah I’ve never played it myself. Hate to hear that as the idea of a Disney racing game on the surface seems fun. But can’t be too surprised since it’s ftp.

It was a fun racing game for sure, and the seasons were great.

Then the amount of microtransactions increased.

Then they made season passes only purchasable as microtransactions.

Then they removed all characters from getting guaranteed voice lines.

Then they split a season into two and needing two season passes to be purchased for each season.

Then they changed it so it’s impossible to get mid season racers unless you buy loot boxes.

Then they changed season pass experience to only be gained from achievements rather than from the season itself.

And now they’ve made it so seasons with 7 racers will take place over 3 months instead of 2, and that you have to purchase 3 season passes for the one season.

Dreamlight Valley is a much better game that is a lot more respectful to the player compared to the mess and greed that is Speedstorm.
