FF7R Sephiroth was the true GOAT and I'm not even being sarcastic. Once you had this bad boy, you could just bulldoze through the entire game without breaking a sweat.

I saw some people thinking KH days is being remade by H.A.N.D. lol, absolutely no way that's happening.

The supposed remake. Bottom Left just looks like one of those upscale mods for the DS version.

"Square Enix is currently collaborating with h.a.n.d. on a Days remake. Titled "Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days HD ReMIX", it is being developed in Unity with PS2-era KH assets. Cutscene animation and voice acting are being reused from the 1.5 movie, with select missions receiving new voicework. The multiplayer mode and mission mode from the DS versions will not return. Reveal and release are currently planned for 2025.

Preliminary work on a similar Re:coded remake started at around the same time. If the Days remake performs well, h.a.n.d. will continue their work on that too, using the Days engine as a foundation.

When development on Re Mind was completed, the intention was for the Osaka staff to use the assets they had made to develop several smaller-scale titles simultaneously with KH4. COVID and other factors, such as KH4 eating up many more resources than expected, tore these plans apart.

Square Enix and Disney want to expand the series' audience as much as possible before KH4 releases, with the Steam ports, remakes, and Missing-Link all being parts of that plan. KH4 is currently scheduled for the end of 2026, but it might slip into 2027 depending on how development proceeds."

No mission mode would be a massive disappointment

I like the portable games as much as the next guy, but I'm having a hard time seeing how Days and Coded are meant to pull in new players for KH4, considering they're both stories that happen inbetween the main stuff, and whose gameplay is so different to the core series.

I thinks it’s possible they are working on something considering how quiet they’ve been since NEO:TWEWY. But I just don’t see them going back to remake Days and Re:Coded right now if their intent is to draw newcomers into the franchise leading into KH4. And h.a.n.d. has enough experience developing new titles for SE that a glorified remaster would kind of be a waste of talent honestly. If anything, they’d be better for a UX remake which at least has more story relevance to the next saga.

I mean, it lines up with what I've been saying: the NEO team should be the ones remaking Days and/or making new side games.

No platforms mentioned in the post but given Unity/PS2 graphics/NEO then boy howdy, finally releasing an offline KH on Switch in 2025 right when the Switch 2 is about to launch is a choice!

As someone who genuinely likes 358/2 Days and coded, remaking them now when Chi/Union Cross/Dark Road - who seem far more lore-critical to the future of the series - are completely unavailable in any official capacity, seems unwise to put it mildly.

Coded and 358/2 Days at least have cutscene movies. The Chi-games have nothing.

The argument for remaking Days and coded is that there's at least something to remake. You'd have to completely transform the mobile titles to get them on anything else, because the gacha games weren't games so much as pretty art collectors. What's acceptable for a free mobile gacha wild be considered godawful as a real game on a platform.

That’s why UX/DR would be the more worthwhile remakes. It would bring them into the same art and gameplay style as the rest of the current saga. It would be a fresh experience just using an existing story. Days “remake” would be more of a remaster than anything.

I'm gonna be honest, I think the time to fully remake Days and Coded would've been the HD remasters, and I really wish that happened.
That’s where I stand. Doesn’t make sense to me to dive back into remaking an almost 20 year old game when you’re trying to start a new saga that’ll end the series.

It would have been great when the fire was hot a decade ago but the time has passed.

After a couple of months of indifference my brain suddenly remembered I'm looking forward to KH4 so now I just need a new trailer so I can see Sora fighting a generic enemy encounter and the new little Ultra HD 4K Shadows explode into a bajillion tiny little dark particles. Is that too much to ask?!

I would be down for a Days Remaster but we all know Nomura would add extra scenes to the game relating to Subject X
A remake would only make sense IF they intended to include story elements for KH4.

Even though, I’m down for anything, I don’t think that releasing Days makes any sense.
Give me a proper X-Saga remake.

In this completely fictitious scenario, wouldn't it be a good thing to give new scenes to the other Org members who were notoriously underutilized? We know way more about Xigbar, Marluxia, Larxene, Saix, and Luxord now than we did in 2009. Additional scenes would only make a Days remake more appealing; its not like it'd be stomping all over something the OG did especially well.
