Seriously, when was Pixel RPG announced, and it's out today? I hope SE seriously asks itself wtf it's doing with this property.

They can prioritise profits (gacha trash) or quality (real game), but it seems they're doing neither right now?

It was announced on July 8th. Took 92 days of pre-registration until launch (which seemed to have been pushed back a month since the App Store originally said September 9)

Some info on the Disney x Epic Games/Fortnite collab. Basically saying not to expect characters like Mickey to carry a gun in Fortnite. But those characters will still be part of the Disney metaverse thing.

This came out of Unreal Fest in Seattle this week. Might be worth mentioning there’s an Unreal Fest in Tokyo in 11/2. Would be interesting if some of the KH devs were involved to talk about their work with UE5. SE isn’t on the list as one of the companies giving lectures, but it says more are coming soon.

This has been me screaming into the void for these last however many months on this thread whenever this topic comes up. They're not going to let Mickey kill Goku with a gun.

On the article itself, I don't know what the product is. Which, to be fair, neither does the author. But it seems to be... a lobby connected to Fortnite? I'm just reminded of all the failed metaverses from execs who clearly never realised that Second Life has been a thing for decades, and running around in a shared metaverse isnt interesting.

Also, lmfao, Disney had a metaverse division. What a fucking waste of time and resources.

I think that article just paints a broader brush on what the investment in Epic entails, which is a completely separate mode and they used Lego as an example of a separate mode already in the game. That doesn't change any of the discussion that's been had about Sora being in Fortnite.

It makes sense for certain characters to not be in the main game, of course. But we already have examples of classic Disney characters being in the main game. We're getting Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, and Captain Hook in the main game. We've got Mr and Mrs Incredibles and Frozone shooting Goku. Sora should be included in this list, and not in a list that would included Tinkerbell, Simba, and Lumière .

It's up to Disney's discretion on who does what in Fortnite, and if Nomura gives his blessing then Sora should be sniping the Avatar, teenage mutant ninja turtles, and a Xenomorph.

The Disney mods for Mortal Kombat go viral. People love to buy into wild shit and want to replicate experiences of what they see streamers doing. If there's viral insanity around using Cinderella in Fortnite, that translates into a lot of sales. And a lot of people would buy Cinderella because of how absurd it is.

It's all hypothetical though, all anyone is saying in regards to Sora is what they'd hope to get. It's the same as when people wished for him in Smash for years. Until a proper announcement, it's just a want. But Disney buying into Epic and allowing Mrs Incredible to hit the griddy while Frozone blasts people with a shotgun has opened the door a bit.

Square Enix announced a new mobile game from a new IP called Emberstoria and pre-registration is already open for it. Lol

Per the Gematsu, the game is expected 11/29 per the JP App Store. Since SE normally does stuff in order relative to their release schedule, either ML is releasing in December or is delayed to next year.

ReMind, Sora getting into Smash, the PC Ports, and the KH4 announcement were all way too good. The scales had to even out eventually. This is the most embarrassing moment in KH's history (including Swim This Way). They're gonna make it to the three year mark since ML's announcement without the game being out.

We really are going to get through October 2024 without any news, aren't we.

We'll see what happens. There's D23 Brazil in November, Jump Festa and TGA in December.
I don't have any hope for TGA though. Beyond that, I'm hoping we finally get an update in March 2025 at the latest.

If ML got cancelled or instead changed to a cutscene movie or something I honestly don't know how I would feel. On the one hand I never really cared for anything about it except for it's really cool gothic cover art which didn't even end up matching with the style of the game.

On the other it would be a concerning sign about what it going on behind the scenes with the KH department in general and be an even sadder waste of money flushed down the drain more than this game already was.

Maybe it would be a good lesson for Nomura to not make mobile games for the series anymore or at least not make them important to the narrative of the series, although that's probably too optimistic.

I would be sad if Missing Link got cancelled because it'd become a game that barely anyone was able to play and give a chance.

But on the other hand if it was turned into a cutscene movie, we could have a new collection come in the near future. GBA COM, 358/2 Days HD, Re:Coded HD, Union X Remastered (same graphics as the mobile game), Dark Road and Missing Link movie

Maybe that's a little much but would make the rest of the series playable.

Unless the opportunity cost of releasing a dud and the brand damage is more than just moving on.

I don't know if that's true for ML, but I definitely know that there's been cases where basically done games and movies aren't released.

It’s not going to be cancelled. The game’s been in development for at least three years and is near ready for launch. There’s too much sunk cost for it to make sense to cancel.
They’ve cancelled completed / almost completed games when they moved their leadership in new directions a couple of months ago. Missing-Link might have been on a very fine line between cancelled and not.
