When are we expecting news?

Hey Kingdomers, it’s October now and I think we need to change our approach.

I think we scared Missing-Link off, what with our concern over location data being sold, gambling mechanics being included in the game, and everything else that’s looked like a problem.

I’m putting forth positive thinking and vibes to try and coax it out of hiding. We miss you, Missing-Link! Please come back to us!

I’m leaning toward a delay for ML til late winter/early spring 2025. Maybe around the 23rd anniversary, (which is also the three year mark of its announcement. Oof.)

It’s worth pointing out we saw this same scenario play out with Nier Reincarnation which was supposed to release in 2020. In December of that year, they announced its delay to 2021. And that game had already started pre-registration in September. So don’t be surprised if we don’t hear anything on ML until then.

A delay would suck, but my hope is it will come with a trailer for both it and KH4 at TGA. And that would kick off the whirlwind of KH content that 2025 will be.

Yeah I think it’s likely Nomura just opted to not correct the interviewer since an announcement wasn’t official yet. If we don’t get something by the end of this month, I’m writing it off.

i'm boorishly going to use your post as a jumping off point to urge anyone present to go replay KH1. I recently saw a challenge where you give Goofy all of the Beginner mode powerups, and make him do all of the fighting, with Sora only ever scoring the finishing hit on bosses. I thought it'd be janky and challenging, but it turned out to be so goddamn fun. You can tweak Goofy's abilities and behavior to be so obscenely aggressive in KH1, I've never had an easier fight against Ansem in any other playthrough, Goofy can barge through him with RIDICULOUS damage. Optimizing Goofy is crazy fun.

just more evidence that KH1 is the most special of the KH games, impossible to remake. It could literally have only come into existence when it did and the series has such wildly different objectives nowadays that remaking KH1 would only strip it of everything that makes it feel like such a unique, Squaresoft title
