since they never mentioned where KH4 will release on, maybe they planning to release is on switch 2 too. switch 2 is not revealed yet so they can't release a trailer mentioning it. will be kinda wild if the next trailer was planned for a nintendo reveal presentation all along.

They could always do what Life is Strange did where they announced platforms and a release date with a generic “will come to Nintendo Switch as well as some point” which all pointed towards it being on Switch 2

LIFE IS STRANGE: DOUBLE EXPOSURE will launch on Xbox Series X|S consoles, PlayStation 5® and PC on Oct. 29, 2024. The game is also coming to Nintendo Switch.

I think it’ll come down whether it can run the UE5 graphics. Even the PS5 struggles with it at times, so I’m a bit skeptical if the Switch successor is PS4 level. But they could have dialed back on pushing performance limits intentionally for it to run on Switch. Or they could have a modified version.

But I don’t see it being re-revealed at a Nintendo event. I think they’ll lean on Nintendo for DQXII instead and KH4 will primarily be marketed at PS5/Xbox/general events.

Mentioning Treasure Planet seems like a pretty big red flag to me. Him being a liar with some sketchy dealings is a bigger one.

Yeah… Aside from its general unlikelihood, I would be surprised if we have both Star Wars and Treasure Planet in the same.game. Even Moana and TP in the same game would be a little weird as both are about sailing on a boat to a place of legend because of an artifact discovered by the protagonist. Between Moana and SW, you would basically check all the same boxes Treasure Planet would.

I also don’t think it makes sense to add Sora to Fortnite a full year or more before KH4 releases. One would think they’d do it closer to KH4 as a tie-in.

He seems to be a terrible person in general, but I would be especially wary of trusting someone utterly humiliated like he was on the internet.

Yeah, there's really not much of a chance that Treasure Planet has considering even Disney barely mentions it. If it got cut from Dream Drop Distance then it sure ain't appearing in KHIV either... especially since they'll mostly be putting focus on the newer movies anyway.

Only thing I believe there is the 2026 release date.

Roy Conli produced Treasure Planet and other than Strange World it’s the last of his films not in the series. And it’s been a while since I saw the film but is a theme of it finding home? That might be a tie for the worlds in KH4.

But I’m also inclined to not believe a word that man says. Just an awful, awful man.

Nope, Jim leaves home to join an expedition. He returns at the end, but there's no real overlap with KH4's stated themes
I asked the resident KHI treasure planet expert and she said it was about home and oneself =(

I get a lot of the oneself part, but I watched it pretty recently and Jim never longs to go home... he longs for a father figure in John Silver but that's more of a found family theme than a home theme!! If this is Arielle she can show herself! 😡

I honestly feel that KH3 was the time for Treashy Planny. John Silver's obsession with finding the door to the ultimate treasure has more overlap with the Xehanort of it all. Feels too late now

To be clear, I think Treasure Planet would be a perfect fit for Kingdom Hearts but I have trouble believing it'll be in 4 alongside Star Wars, for reasons already mentioned above.

Granted, anything is possible. BBS had all three classic princesses in its game because the timeline worked and it fit the overall oldtimey vibe the game was going for -- and it's ridiculous that Treasure Planet isn't in the series and a shame it was cut from DDD (apparently).

Nomura was with the senior advisor of Sony Music Entertainment Japan and co-creator of KH, Shinji Hashimoto, at an Utada concert.

Looks like the Nomura is somewhat a Deadpool fan with the shirt he's got on. Would be really cool to have some Marvel content in KH4.

Can you imagine a Deadpool world in KH5? They'd have to PG-13-ify it like Once Upon a Deadpool but it'd be fire

I stand by my belief that KH4 won't have "conventional" Disney worlds. It doesn't make sense to have something like Moana in the VR verse when it would just as well be in the main KHverse. KH4 is the perfect time to do SW/Marvel/Fox stuff and get it over with.

Muppets Treasure Island is better than Treasure Planet anyway

Switch can run UE4 and it never got KH3 (natively). That said, one of the big rumors from last year's Gamescom was Switch 2 supposedly running The Matrix Awakens demo, which isn't just UE5 but looking pretty darn darn more than anything on the market.

Given the absence of Nintendo at this year's Gamescom, they may have pulled out because of that leak, giving weight to this possibility.

I'd be extremely surprised if we see no Disney worlds at all. Why would they do that? Like, yeah, they could justify it in the lore, but what would be the real life purpose of doing this, especially since Disney games still coming out (Dreamlight Valley, Pixel RPG, etc) still fall back on these properties to make money?

It just seems like it runs the risk of burning their audience and leaving money in the table.

That, and, by Nomura's own admission there were Disney films released in the midst of KH3's development that he loved and wished he could have included in the game. It's not hard to guess which movies he's enamored by, and he's also not exactly the kind of guy to let an idea go.

They didn't say that, they're saying it wouldn't have conventional ones.

I do hope the game commits to its premise as much as possible, whatever that means for it.

Agreed.

Narratively I hate the idea of it being like "Sora is in an IMPOSSIBLE AND UNIQUE situation and in three short hours the other 40 hours of this adventure are going to be exactly like every other game."
