this is a very fucking generic point of view but current events have really reinforced it... it'd be really nice if Kingdom Hearts games would go back to introducing characters and plot points in major games, as well as resolving established plot points and character stories. I don't think I should be made to feel like an ungrateful snob because I want to understand and appreciate the characters that Nomura comes up with in a grander context than cheaply animated cutscenes and battles that are determined by flinging a PNG of Abu the monkey or Mr. Smee at the screen. If these characters and this setting is that important to Nomura, it'd be nicer to meet them in a real game and not an info dump movie or a YouTube video.

I love Kingdom Hearts on a visceral level but a lot of Kingdom Hearts doesn't feel real to me
100%. I just want to learn about the story in the real games again. I legitimately don't know what happens in DR, because the fact that it happens in DR already makes it feel kinda not real to me.

This isn’t directly KH related, but Ouka Studio, the developers of Visions of Mana, are getting shut down the very same day their game released. Fucking depressing. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ethink-japan-approach-as-game-strategy-stalls

Between that, KHUX, and Brave Exvius, Square Enix news the past 24 hours has really sucked

I think SE’s decision to focus on in house development contributed to this. They probably had already decided to not use this studio or NetEase for future games. So NetEase shut them down due to a lack of projects.

Not saying SE was wrong to move things in house as I generally prefer that to outsourcing. But if they develop an in-house Mana game, I hope they consider hiring some of the displaced staff who worked on Visions.

Hoping we get some positive news next week. We should be getting their TGS schedule.

This is why I don’t believe there’s any remake plans anymore, they’ve cancelled a lot of their outsourced games (including things close to releasing) so any chance of a team outside of SE working on a 358 Coded Unchained Union Dark Road Key Collection is low for me.

Yeah and we haven’t really felt the effects of those cuts quite yet. I think the cancelled games were pretty much the 2025 and beyond releases considering there’s still a steady flow of games coming this year.

The only thing that might protect KH games is if Disney has to agree to the cancellation. There could be a contractual obligation they have to fulfill. But that would only apply to anything already in the works. If it wasn’t already in development, I doubt they’ll go out of their way for remakes unless it’s for a significant title like FFIX.

But with so many small/medium games being cancelled, shouldn't there be a lot of people free to support the big IP's? I mean, either someone helps with Verum Rex or we won't see KH5 in, at least, 12 years from now.

Well, maybe Verum Rex could be the DLC/expansion for KH4, which would reduce the development time. But I expect it would be bigger than ReMind, so +2 years of development.

Also, I will share something that is never mentioned, which would support the idea of a possible Re:Union X.

The game is only in English and Japanese. All other fans who do not understand the languages cannot enjoy the story. And KH3 is translated into 6 other languages. So I would like to think that they will do something to make UX and DR available to everyone.

Besides, I've always felt that Re:Union X would be a better show than a game. I don't think playing a character that doesn't participate in 80% of the main events, and with boring Disney worlds, is interesting. The opposite of Dark Road, which I think would work really well as a remake.

I feel insane talking about hypothetical DLC for a game we haven't seen for 2 years now, but I wouldn't be against Verum Rex being an additional campaign to KH4 like Shadow of the Erdtree to Elden Ring instead of a standalone project.

I hope KH4 is more of a complete game than KH3

Critical Mode day one, a challenging Secret Boss and good combat abilities
Seems they wanna make a fantastic first impression with this new 'Lost Masters' saga so I'll imagine they'll pull out all the stops. Amazing graphics, immersive and deep ARPG action, mind-blowing musical compositions, the return of fan-favorite mechanics from previous titles, etc etc.

It's honestly why I don't mind waiting a while for KH4.

The point of them doing this is to focus on AAA game development. So those staff and resources are most likely being redirected to games like KH4 and DQ12 to speed up development. If they are making any new teams, those teams would be working on new AAA titles. Something like Verum Rex could be possible. But a Days or Re:Coded remake with a AAA budget seems unlikely. They’re also wanting to elevate other IPs to AAA status, so a AAA SaGa or Mana game is more likely than remakes.

Union Cross could be a maybe if it’s something like a full scale MMO or something. Since it’s a story that isn’t on console platforms already, it has the most justification for a remake.

yes and please let me CHOOSE critical mode for my first playthrough, none of this 'play through proud mode first ;)' business... some of us want to DIE!!! some of us want to have a memorable relationship with certain sequences in the game!!!

Can I have a Days with a AA budget, please 😞

Looks like a link to a dev build of the Missing Link app launch site is floating around. If it’s legit, not sure that it means much. It could have been around but was only recently discovered. The leak came from Mystic/Midori from his private account, so take it as you will.
