When are we expecting news?

I believe it was just a logo found in game files. Speculation in hacking and mod communities went pretty rampant but it never became too big of a deal because no one knew what it was.

Did no one really believe that Yozora's real appearance was Sora-like? What was your reasoning behind Rex associating Sora with Yozora then?

Rex is kinda doofy was my reasoning

But now I'm pretty sure the reasoning is that they didn't exactly have time to change entire dialogue so everything said up until mentioning that Yozora actually looks more like Riku was pre-Verum Rex.

That'd be a pleasant surprise. My guess is that the Rex line was written when Invictus was still the direction they were taking for Yozora's appearence, and by the time Nomura decided to change him into a Noctis knockoff (Noctoff?) the world's scenario was already too deep into production to change it.

I feel like everyone is focusing on the Noctis of it all, but like... Yozora is also clearly a Riku-knock off too right? I wonder if this is more just a case of Nomura doing a bit of a Ventus-situation where he was originally split between whether Ven should look like Sora or Roxas. Maybe he was split between making Yozora like Sora himself (like Invictus depicts) or like Riku (what we have)?

part of me wonders if invictus honestly had nothing to do with versus at all and was originally just a cheeky game references for the toy story thing (hence the design looking /that/ close to his outfit) and at this point the Yozora character looked like Sora and wasn't really plot relevant. Then when the FFXV stuff happened, maybe the shift was to incorporating all of this Versus inspo. So Yozora was switched to look like Riku (who now also conveniently looks closer to Noctis so they both look more like Versus designs). And it became Verum Rex and more integral to the story. Kind of the vibe I'm getting.

That's exactly what I think happened. A lot of people have assumed "Magia and Aegis" are the names of Yozora's buddies, but I'm 90% sure it really was just supposed to be Donald and Goofy's "toy names", hence why they just mean Magic and Defense, and also hence why that line was cut because it would have been confusing/misleading when everything about Verum Rex is now Very Important.

neat stuff!! but for anyone looking to Invictus/Noctis for lore hints... I don't think Yozora's 'true form' is that more Sora-esque design from the leak... I just think Rex confusing Sora with a character from his favorite video game was an idea they settled on early before Nomura decided to make that into a macro lore element. And I'm glad he did!

And now we have someone claiming to have spoken to Susanne Blakeslee saying she said she’s recording for “kingdom hearts 4”

Though I’m more inclined to believe she’s been booked in to record for a game and someone jumped to the conclusion that it’s KH4, considering Maleficent is confirmed for both Dreamlight Valley and Disney Speedstorm.

But the rumour mill is rumour milling once again. We just need Bill Farmer to say he’s recording for the game 3 years too early alongside a Jesse McCartney selfie and we’re back to the good old days.

Not to mention there was plenty of time between deciding on the designs for Yozora and translating / recording the dialogue proves that it was a deliberate choice for Rex to say that. If the plans changed via a lore change, they had plenty of time to tweak the script.
