tbh if the success of KHML depends on the weather when it launches, that just doesn't seem like a good outlook for the game.

I just... guys, Square Enix didn't even bother putting Sora in Opera Omnia before EoS. Disney is coming out with a new mobile RPG with almost the same exact concept as KH, but no Sora in sight. The two KH knockoffs had a collab with each other!

It's sad, but not surprising, that KH is figuratively lying in a ditch. Neither company cares that much.

These kind of collabs will most likely happen in the immediate lead up to KH4 or shortly after it releases. Similar to how Sora was added to Brave Exvius right before KH3. It’s all about creating “synergy”. That’s likely the same reason we haven’t seen Missing Link yet because they probably want it to release within a fixed timeframe prior to KH4 like they did with Ever Crisis and Rebirth.

I also don’t know why they would have Sora in Disney RPG from the start when it isn’t a KH game or centered on him. Just like with Disney characters coming to Fortnite, it makes more sense to introduce him later down the line if anything. They need to save some exciting stuff to revive interest later on.

I get how you feel but KH makes too much damn money (relatively) for them not to care. It might really just be a case of them being stingy/careful about collabs. Which I hope isn’t the case cuz I wanna see Sora hit the griddy.

Not that we’re obligated for news or updates but even just something verbal would be nice. Even Take-Two/Rockstar have reassured GTA fans that the 6th mainline game was still on track for Fall 2025 about two or three times after it was officially revealed. Would be nice if companies like Square and Nintendo learned how to communicate more (albeit the latter is getting better at it) but oh well.

Look, I'll drop it now since I'm not really going anywhere exciting with this, but what I'm driving at is that Disney is perfectly happy to release a pixel RPG in which different Disney properties interact with each other where the character goes through different worlds, and Disney is doing it exclusively on their own without KH being in any way involved. And it's not even the first or second time they've done this.

Maybe Fortnite gets a Sora skin. But I just don't see Disney as the company pushing for that idea. Collabs happen, you're absolutely correct, but they're usually led by SE. FFBE (although the snow globe units were ridiculous), MK, etc. But those collabs have taken place in SE products. The huge exception being Smash, of course. But adding Sora to Smash seems to have been a herculean task that Sakurai fought and bled for.

Sora in Fortnite would require Disney to work with Epic on it. Maybe it happens? But man, the company that has like one KH pin at their parks doesn't strike me as the company that's going to do this any time soon. The one factor is that, as olu says, KH consistently makes money, even if it seems neither Disney or SE seem to value it at the profits it makes every time a game comes out.

Eh, I dunno. Something could be announced tomorrow and I'd look like an idiot. This is just my read on it.

I feel like Sora is automatically doomed when it comes to uber-cool collabs because of Disney. Even if Sora wasn't owned by Disney and the rights to the character belonged to Nomura/SE, they'd still have to go out of their way to eliminate every and all Disney references in such a collab - like how they removed all traces of Disney characters in Sora's inclusion for Smash. If I remember correctly, we didn't even get a Donald Duck, Goofy or Mickey Mouse Spirit. Only reference to Disney is the Lucky Emblem present as the Kingdom Key's keychain.

Disney and SE would have to be all aboard for a legitimate collaboration to occur. And that really sucks cuz that hardly happens.

In this era of video game expansion, where everyone is eager to adapt any of them to shows or movies, who is naive enough to think that Disney looks at its portfolio and thinks:

"Kingdom Hearts? One of the most recognized franchises in the industry, with the most loyal fans, who are used to consume their products on different platforms and media, and who are desperate for more. Plus, it uses other franchises of ours, that would help us to push and promote other IP's and grow our audience? I think we should do absolutely nothing because we're stupid and we don't like money."

Reading the last few pages, the forum, and the fandom in general, is filled with so much misinformation, pessimism and people pulling shit out of their asses, that it kills every attempt at honest discussion. It makes sense that some of us no longer feel like engaging.

Some answering posts directly from people sharing positive messages about upcoming events where we could see something, when ML will be released or how excited they are to play it, for example, only to say that the games have been delayed, that there are problems in development, for the 1000th time that the delay is because of what Nomura said at the concert, that ML will not even reach the year of life, that is a shit game, if you can call a video game a mobile gacha, etc. Just repeating the same opinion over and over again, and replying at every occasion, contributing nothing to the conversation.

As for ML, some of you care too much about something that you yourselves say you don't care about. Just move on.

I understand that not everyone deals with the lack of news in the same way, but it is very sad to see the state we are in.

Anyway.

People are free to criticize ML if they want, just as people are free to defend it. It’s not the type of game everyone wants to support for a myriad of reasons, and I believe that’s fair.

That said, I agree about the increased negativity and pessimism, but I chalk that up to general fatigue over little news.

I agree. Different strokes for different folks. That's fine.

But confidently saying a game will flop before it drops - especially when feedback for the beta of said game has been generally positive - is just a bit ignorant. Give things a chance. The doom and gloom over the scarcity of news isn't helping, yeah.

I concur. I also didn't know the VA for Mickey looked liked that so that's a first.

The success of a mobile game relies on its ability to abuse its players through pure market saturation, not on anything else. There is no reason to think ML could do this, or want ML to do this. It has literally zero to do with what the beta testers thought.

I don't think any product with that goal should be "given a chance" by anyone, ever.

This is pretty much my take. People can enjoy it if they want, but mobile games typically have predatory tactics that I’d rather not engage in. Furthermore, the pessimism and negative viewpoint on ML usually stem from people who have likely experienced these tactics multiple times before, considering how popular mobile games are.

Now if I ever play games like Genshin or Honkai, due to how many friends want to get me into it, I wouldn’t pay a dime. ML personally just isn’t interesting to me, so it’s also partly a preference as to why I won’t play it.

That is an entirely different conversation. If you don't want to fall for a mobile game's predatory tactics, then don't. Don't spend money on it. Be a F2P player. The conversation here is in regards to the game's success based on the game's functionality and premise as a video game. Nothing else.

Even so, I believe a video game - whether it's an indie, AAA or even a mobile one - should be given a chance before ultimately concluding that it'll flop. Regardless of whether you enjoy mobile games or not. Regardless of whether it's predatory or not. That isn't an issue for a responsible person.

If none of us were willing to give KH4 a chance, none of us would even be here in this forum thread. None of us would be anticipating news. None of us would be looking forward to an update. So the concept of never giving a product a chance is silly to me.

I really don't wanna get annoying or seem like I'm incessantly defending ML so I'll just leave it at that until actual news about the title comes out.

I DO agree that people can just not pay anything for a gacha game (unless you’re very sensitive to these tactics like a lot of people are, so I can’t justify it about these types of games at all). While some people fall into the trap more easily than others, if people don’t have a gambling issue like myself, then by all means be a F2P player. I think the problem is usually *when* people actually fall for the predatory tactics, and being concerned over its effects.

But when it comes to the actual gameplay, I see where you’re coming from, yeah.

You’re actually being very civil and eloquent in your points, so I don’t see it as annoying at all!
