That FFXV delay started our short-lived trend of new KH games launching in January that ended with MoM.
Crazy how we're just a month away from SGF actually now being a time when KH4 could realistically show up again. We could just be one month away from this madness being over... I have little faith in it, but free us from this thread prison, oh Lord Nomura.

Maybe I’m just blindly optimistic, but I think the inclusion of the FF gang in Re:Mind was a direct result of fan outcry over the lack of FF in the base game, and there will be some FF presence in KH4. Maybe not as big of a presence as they once had, but I don’t think they’ll be totally absent like they were in vanilla KH3. Copium? Maybe.

There’s also the fact that there aren’t as many FF crossover games active now as there were when KH3 was in development. At that time, you had Dissidia NT and WoFF that they wanted to steer people to for the FF crossover fix. Nomura even mentioned the amount of FF crossovers as one of the reasons for them not being “necessary” for KH3.
I agree. I think after all the complaints about no FF characters in 3, to putting them in ReMind, and then to not include anyone in 4 would not be the best look, so I'm inclined to think Nomura would throw someone pre-FFXV in somewhere (Noctis and co, and Clive won't be in a KH game).
It's funny that it's the characters themselves that make KH fans feel like FF is included. While I did miss the characters like Leon, I didn't feel a Final Fantasy presence was lacking in 3. I mean, you build a giant Cactuar to climb in Toy Box, you unlocked FF Gummi Ships, you took photos of constellations of FF monsters, the Dissidia display... I felt very happy as a FF fan, but I recognise that I'm not a majority voice in this.
But yeah, they're pretty good with taking feedback and executing it in their next game so I do feel like they'll be putting a FF character into KH4.... hopefully.
I think it's maybe what kind of FF fan you are, or even if you're an FF fan at all.
Like, I don't think I'd define myself as a proper FF fan. I like Cloud, I like Squall (it's Leon), I like Tidus. But more importantly for me, I played KH before FF. So a reference to the Highwind has no particular emotional resonance for me. I just want to know where Cloud and Sephiroth went at the end of KH2.
Also, if FF characters don't appear in a game with a city called Quadratum, I'm going to be peeved!

Quadratum would be the perfect opportunity to have the characters wearing the kind of fashionable, catwalk-inspired outfits Nomura seems to enjoy creating.
facts. i really hope to see the artwork nomura drew with kairi, young xehanort and aqua, ventus, roxas etc etc. with the drip fully realized in kh4.
I feel like my opinions on this subject are already well known so I won't beat a dead horse - but just to add - specifically the FF characters who have shown up in all 3 mainline games feel far more like secondary OC Kingdom Hearts characters than a lot of actual secondary KH characters. And KH games feel a lot less richer for not having them included. They kinda shot themselves in the foot by not including them in KH3 as it would have been the perfect ramping-off point for them all, but now we head into a new saga with all these pent up feelings hanging over the franchise.

That's where my heart is at. Leon, to me, is a full on Kingdom Hearts character. I only played FF8 because of KH. But he's not like Aladdin or Hercules. He's a kid from Radiant Garden who fled the world as it fell into darkness, changed his name and leaned go fight Heartless. He's not a cameo, he was a normal part of the cast in KH1 and 2, and part of the mythos.
When I was a kid, I didn't even know what Final Fantasy was lol. I thought they were original characters made for Kingdom Hearts
