I never thought I'd be saying the thing, but here we are.

The apocalypse arrived before Missing Link.

Nomura, release the game already before Putin kill's us all! (speculation, the guy in the radio says it seems it's a cyber attack)

The 4G barely works. I don't even know if this will be posted.

I hope everyone is safe. May your heart be your guiding key.

Edit:
Well, I originally thought this was a whole Europe thing, but the scale might be smaller than I thought. Idk lol (what being incomunicated does to a mf).

The power outage is only affecting all of Spain and Portugal, and bits of other surrounding countries.

Power and internet restored in my city. We still don't know what caused the blackout.

6 hours without power and unable to communicate with anyone is an experience I never thought I would go through.

The power outage is only affecting all of Spain and Portugal, and bits of other surrounding countries.
Correct. At first, they said on the radio that it could be a cyberattack affecting Europe. In the following hours, they said it had also impacted parts of Italy, the UK, and Germany, as well as the south of France and all of Spain and Portugal.

If Missing Link had already been released, I wouldn't have been able to play it because I didn't have internet or GPS. Another argument in favor of them making a PC port :ROFLMAO:

Like, genuinely, why would Sora, a character from a dormant IP that won't even acknowledge its own anniversary, appear in Fortnite?
with peace, love, and a heart full of light (like Sora), I think this is peppering personal angst over the news drought into a mostly unrelated point of conversation

Tons of people play Fortnite, not just gen z. For many, myself included, a lot of personal relationships with distant friends and family orbit AROUND playing Fortnite to kill time. While Fortnite does often try to coalesce their collabs around ongoing franchises as a form of mutually beneficial advertisement, they're also not afraid to put something out simply because it's popular, even without an ongoing project to advertise.

If Sora can smash it up with the likes of Kazuya and Snake, he can certainly be used as one of the millions of advertising tendrils in the comparatively un-violent Fortnite.

Not sure if I'd call Fortnite less violent than SSB. The former still has players dropping dead from gunshots while the latter sends them flying Team Rocket style. Past that, SSB does a better job at making the characters feel authentic, where as they're just cosmetic skins in Fornite (mii costumes not withstanding). Fortnite may be more popular, but SSB is "classier" in a sense with how it treats 3rd parties.

Disney owns a significant stake of Epic. With their own metaverse connected to Fortnite coming soon, it is only a matter of time before KH is incorporated in some shape or form.

For better or worse, they’re going to do to Fortnite what they did to Broadway. Clean up the streets and make it more appealing to their audiences and suitable for their IPs.

KH isn't really a thing Disney bothers with.

Fortnite actually doesn't really depict anyone dropping dead, characters disappear as holograms.

I mean, yeah, if you want to make it a matter of taste, yes. Smash does an infinitely better job with its crossover content than Fortnite.

the dooming over Disney and Square not giving a shit about KH and calling it a dormant IP is a bit much, yeah? I'm with you all that the news drought is ridiculous, and that ML's development has been fishy. But lets not forget that the Steam version of the KH games sold super fucking well just slightly less than a year ago. KH3 did dynamite numbers overall. Disney and Square don't lack object permanence. They're aware that KH is a pliable franchise. That's why Disney has been dropping more and more easter eggs of KH across their shows and social media.

KH is mismanaged but it isn't this dead thing that they have spite against, be serious.

wow, this doom & gloom is reminding me of those "nintendo has FORGOTTEN about mario!!" memes.

disney 100% "bothers" with kingdom hearts. they just have different methods of showing it.

when it comes to kh specifically, disney manages brand control, the series' licensing & image, and profit. they don't handle creative development and promotion priority - that's primarily square's job.

for disney, kh is moreso a niche project for them. they maintain control and protect IP. for square, it's a passion project. it's valuable.

your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the reasoning behind this drought but if i had to guess, there's defo a conflict of interest going internally between both square and disney. either that or nomura's split focus is slugging development in some way, shape or form.

it's all super hard to tell but let's not formulate the narrative that they've kicked the series away to the curb. kh is too successful and disney likes money.

Reminds me of how the Resident Evil fanbase was acting before the official reveal of RE4 remake. Any time an event went by without a trailer, people were saying stuff like "Capcom hates Resident Evil" or "They don't care about the fans". Which is absolutely ridiculous. There's 3 franchises that Capcom truly cares about and RE is one of them. But news droughts have that effect I guess 😂

When KH does come back, it isn’t just about ML or KH4. It’s setting up the entire next saga, which could be 10-20 years of games. So it’s important they kick it off right after this time away.

Like VIIR before it, they will re-reveal KH4 whenever it’s within a year of release. And at that point, all the supplemental marketing/brand synergy stuff will kick off as well. That probably includes ML.

I think we're going to need to agree to disagree, which is perfectly fine! I personally don't think it's on the cards, but I hope you get our good boy into your game and have a magical time.

I appreciate the discussion, for what it's worth. God fucking knows I argued with everyone in this site in my day.

I will push back a tad on the "dormant IP" bit, since that proved a bit controversial. As a point of comparison, I also consider Elder Scrolls dormant, even though Oblivion remaster came out. And that's because Oblivion, and the Steam release for KH, are games that already exist. You can re-release Starfox 64, but that doesn't mean the skill to make a better game is still there. Same for the Legacy of Kain re-release (although LoK is more dead than dormant, tbh). It's exciting that we have it, but it's not quite the next game. Those IPs are stuck, and re-releasing a game that already exists doesn't really change that imho. Specifically, it doesn't say whether the skills and will to make the next game are even still there.

Anyway, it's not really a hill I'm willing to die on, and getting off-topic, I just wanted to clarify what I meant.

I also consider Elder Scrolls dormant
Despite the lack of a new numbered entry, I personally wouldn't consider the series dormant. The Elder Scrolls Online has been going strong for 10 years and is getting new content all the time. I know that an MMO isn't everyones cup of tea but it's something at least.

That's a fair point. The mainline series, then. Like saying the Warcraft RTS is dormant, even with WoW. And I would *still* say that, even WC3 Reforged. There's no will (or skills) at Blizzard to make WC4. And I'm honestly worried that Bethesda no longer has the skills, after so long, to actually make ES6.
