I stand by that it’ll be whatever world we visit first. I’m all for the first trailer being focused solely on Quadratum though with the Disney rep mainly being another scene with Donald and Goofy.

But I think when they do show a Disney world, it isn’t going to be one of your traditional animated Disney or Pixar properties. It’ll be a world that stands apart from what we’ve seen before in the series the same way Quadratum does. Which is why Star Wars makes the most sense to me. And I don’t see Nomura scrapping the Star Wars world if they had the greenlight to use it considering how much it has influenced his body of work.

I kind of wish the fandom would stop trying to logic world picks/reveals based on synergy of what Disney is doing with the properties. It takes half a decade (and then some, apparently) to make a game these days. No marketing team is that good and KH/Square has never done this.

But that basically is what happened with KH3. It launched in early 2019 with Tangled, Frozen, BH6, Monsters Inc, & Toy Story worlds. And what happened between 2019 & 2020?

-Frozen 2
-Toy Story 4
-Tangled The Series
-Big Hero 6 The Series+Baymax mini series
-Monsters at Work

Sorry, but so? Those are all popular Disney IP and those projects were developed independently of Kingdom Hearts, and Kingdom Hearts wasn't used to promote ANY of them, nor were they produced because Kingdom Hearts was successful.

Kingdom Hearts III was in development between 2013 and 2018, and most of those projects hadn't been dreamt up when they were chosen as worlds in KH, so it's not like Square picked those worlds to capitalize on upcoming sequels. Frozen and Big Hero 6 were hardly out in the midst of development. Hell, Frozen and Tangeled had to have their plots follow the movie specifically because Disney wanted to do more with those properties when they were box office successes and didn't want Kingdom Hearts muddying that up. If there was any synergy there, they would have tired to work them together in some way but that's simply not what this series is.

Aside from KHUX Medals and avatar pieces, I can think of one specific instance of KH including something for promotional materials on behalf of Disney and that was by including Chicken Little as a summon in Kingdom Hearts II.

Is that why Chicken Little is in the game? I always thought he was a bit of a random easter egg.

Kingdom Hearts II came out on December 22 2005 and Chicken Little came out in Japanese theatres on December 23 2005. Because of this it was seen as a promotional tie in to get people into theatres, though I'm hazy if that was ever confirmed or just a strong, highly likely theory.

Fun fact: since the film hadn't been released during development, the dev team had to create the summon by rewatching the trailer - https://www.khinsider.com/news/A-Look-Back-KH2-Ultimania-Battle-Team-Interview-19291

— The summon roster has changed since the last game. How were these four characters chosen?

Kanemori:
Lilo & Stitch was a fairly new movie back when we first started development, so there were a lot of people asking for Stitch within the company. We made the decision to include him at a very early stage.

As for Chicken Little, when we were trying to decide who to choose as summons, we found ourselves struggling to find the perfect fit. I thought, in that case, it might be interesting to use a character from a movie that hadn't been released yet.

Kando: It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. Since it's a brand new movie, we didn't have any material to work with, so I had to watch the trailer over and over again to make the motions (laughs).

Kanemori: Genie is inherently able to transform, so we wanted to try and make use of that skill. Originally, we planned to have him transform into a martial artist or a guardsman. In the end, various aspects proved difficult to realize, so after some back and forth, we decided to settle on Form Changes.

Peter Pan was chosen because he was a popular character in the original game. The item used to summon him is found in a treasure chest in Port Royal, which offers a "connection" through the shared use of pirates.

chicken little remains one of my favorite parts of KH history, both for its advertisement-adjacent deployment in KH2, and also how absurdly fucking useful he is. I've sat through that movie like, once, it's awful-- I do not fuck with that we're-scared-of-Shrek-ass movie Disney made at ALL. But Chicken Little in KH2? I can't help but smile every playthrough when I reach the point of unlocking him. I can't imagine slogging through Port Royal without the help of my favorite feathered friend. The Hollow Bastion mid-point mob fights are BUILT for Chicken Little, BROKEN by Chicken Little. The sky may not be falling but the Heartless and Nobodies are FALLING. Bitch!

We don't know how the worlds will be selected, I doubt there's a pattern, and I very much doubt it will be the most 'realistic entry' just because of Quadratum. Quadratum is modern and realistic because it's supposed to be set apart from normal Disney Worlds. Sure we'll spend plenty of time there, but I doubt everybody is going to be looking super HD all the time.

You know, with all the datamining that happens I'm surprised the Treasure Planet assets weren't found and pulled from DDD HD, though I guess it doesn't matter because it wouldn't have been touched up to HD so it won't look any different to the 3DS footage, and it's also likely that when remastering it they pulled that content out (same with Jungle Book in BbS)

nomura provided an update on ff7 remake part 3 in the ff7 ever crisis livestream:

"i wont say anything but we are currently working hard on it. please look forward to it"

it's hysterical how they refuse to provide a minor update like that for kh4

I unironically would love this. I’m desperate for some zany, cartoony Disney in what looks like the most realistic entry in the franchise yet.
Also has a chance for a Sora crashout moment

I remember reading a fanfiction where those Aliens "vaporize" Donald & Goofy. That makes Sora almost fall to Darkness lol

I still think something's going on. If they want to reduce news compared to KH3, fine? But complete radio silence even for anniversaries? Not even a piece of art occasionally to remind people to put it in their wish lists? That's not normal.

Considering how we as a fan base take the smallest thing and blow it up to an insane degree, and then Nomura does interviews saying the fans outside of Japan have misinterpreted everything, I'm not completely surprised that they're silent on KH4 like this.

I also wonder if they'd need Disney's approval to say something and it's just not worth chasing at this stage.

I can see Nomura's side, but I'm surprised Marketing hasn't stepped in. Surely this is leading to lost fans.
