What did Riku leave the items for Sora for?

I think it was Riku, but when in the realm of darkness Sora and the gang found a box with a photo of Roxas and friends along with some sea-salt ice cream. Why would Riku do this? Or was it Axel again, trying to get back Roxas?

It was Riku. It was to clue Sora in about Roxas. And also I'm pretty sure the ice-cream opens a Keyhole didn't it, so they could escape?

Why would Riku do this?

To drop hints about Roxas. To help Sora understand why the Organization keeps following after him and calling him "Roxas".

To help Sora get out of his funk and get them out of the Realm of Darkness. That kind of stuff.

but wasnt roxas absent from that Picture after his final day in the virtual TT?it was clearly shown that he wasnt with the gang as if he never existed yet somehow he got back in the Picture.how did riku get that Picture?

Have you forgotten? Riku pick pocketed Roxas. The extra pouch and blue crystal was the digital Twiligh Town copies Roxas had which he gave to Mickey who then gave them to Sora. If he stole those then him getting the picture isn't far fetched.
Plus he kinda had ample amounts of time to go back into the basement, go into the digital town and get the picture.
