and i only want to play ninja gaiden 2 on it
but i heard somewhere that i can't play more than 5 hours a day because of this stupid ring of death thing
i usually play all day when i have a great game to finish (ninja gaiden 2)
any help?

You cant play less than 10 hours a day? Wow do you have a life?

Seriously though the red ring of death is mainly caused when the system overheats but i believe it wont get the red ring if it wasnt in use alot. Just play how you want and unless their are parent controlls on then you can play as long as you like.

There is no set time limit to how much you can play before you red ring it or else my 360 would have gotten it a long time ago.

I've had my 360 for over 2 years now and never seen the red ring and this includes multiple all nighters.

Just make sure that the 360 has room for air to circulate and never put the power brick directly behind the system.

Killing is easy once you forget the taste of sugar
- Don't mod your console
- Don't play it 24/7
- Don't cram it in a place where heat can't escape
- Don't drop it
- Don't move it while a disc is running
- Don't get it wet
- Don't jam peanut butter in the disc tray

That's pretty much it.

Not really. RROD is caused by the GPU heating up so much that it actually melts. If you play it too much, the heat might melt the GPU causing your console to RROD. Even if it does, who cares? You get it fixed for free. Just play in moderate sessions.

You shouldn't have too many problems as long as you keep it well ventilated. I've played the 360 for extended periods plenty of times, though it never does hurt to be careful. Still, like Dogenzaka mentioned, MS will fix it for free should your GPU be melted by its own crapiness. Damnit, ATI, stop making things that over heat. (There were problems with Wii ATI GPUs a while ago too)

uh

rrod's are caused by the fact that the dvd drive is located directly above the gpu

the gpu itself has a heatsink to protect the core from high temps, but the fact that the dvd drive is located just above it doesn't exactly help much

so uh in theory i guess by gutting a 360 and widening the distance between the heatsink and the dvd drive you can reduce your chances of getting an rrod

Damnit, ATI, stop making things that over heat.
this is like trying to develop monkeys that eat shit and excrete nutrients

My cousin has his launch system and it hasn't RROD'd.
Mainly because if you find a good open place (He had his on top of a coffee table) and don't move it it won't overheat.

Also, lol you can't not play all day

Then you either didnt have it in a open place or your friend didnt and the system was already on the vargue of overheating and getting the rrod. So oh well.
