I know that this is supposed to be a joke, but it's true. Depending who's using it, a Keyblade can save the world and help people, or destroy the world and ruin people's lives.
Can't argue with this logic.
I see the 'balance of light and darkness' like natural wildfires (and I say natural here, not man caused ones). They're dangerous, they kill a lot of life and push people out of their homes... but wildfires in some locations are simply nature's way to renewing itself and clearing the way for new growth and life.
Darkness is a force of nature, and everyone may have it, but I don't think the balance Xehanort speaks of is what it's meant to be. Yeah... maybe every once in a while, darkness is supposed to win and sweep the worlds, but light is also supposed to always return and renew them. Having darkness around all the time in balance like Xehanort suggests is like constantly setting the forest on fire on purpose, never allowing the forest to really grow and renew itself once it's been burned.

Can't agree more, the fandom sure ruins a lot of the nice things by getting waaaay too much into argumentative talking. Sometimes it's so nice and then it makes you wanna leave the series forever
but the fandom is an external thing in the end, like Osprey wants to say, it is/can be the worst part of any fandom. For example, I love the Tokyo Ghoul fandom, while the Hetalia fandom generally makes me want to kill o 7 o (and I might even be a bigger Hetalia fan than a TG one). In the end I guess it doesn't count, yet Audo's line is hella true at this point, we all gotta admit it if we've been in this fandom atmosphere for a longer time

This. The obsession with only positive things being said at all times is like 1984's thought police. lol

The sad thing is that it could have been still the "Traaagicc dramatic" and sad story about true friendship without having most of the characters juggle the idiot ball and have things fall into Xehanort's lap instead of him really being a cunning mastermind if they only had written a decent script for BBS that actually adhered to at least basic logic, but I guess the Mirage Arena Multiplayer and other gameplay aspects were more important than a decent story script.
That's also why I mainly call BBS "Operation Surface Scratcher" in my own internal nickname system about video games in general, lol.
To be fair, there are worse fandoms than the Kingdom Hearts fandom (although the Kingdom Hearts fandom is definitely up there among some of the worst I know of)

As far as the fandom goes, it's the "casual" KH fandom that reeeeaaally gets to me. What with the whole "I love KH but I have purposefully skipped 3/4ths of the series because it's stupid and isn't necessary, just give me 3 so I can be done with this story I supposedly love" blah blah blah. I've always seen KH as the kind of series that just doesn't allow for a casual fanbase, so seeing people play the whole I-love-it-but-I-despise-it game with the series just bothers me to no end. When it comes to the fandom that has a solid amount of experience and investment and actually follows the series, I love it and I'm happy to be a part of it.
So, yeah, as usual, I agree with Osprey more or less 100% as well as most of what has already been said. Here's hoping that dialogue and NPCs and the like are handled better in the future.

I'm generally an optimistic, and sometimes indifferent guy when it comes to video game critique, but I have to concur with various points:
• World with little, to no NPCs - Let's be honest, we all jump into KH because of the gameplay. But that doesn't mean that we'd like to see how inhabitants of a world react to certain situations. A Heartless appeared? Run away, or be bold and confront it. Last Saturday I bought Super Mario Galaxy. That game's a gem. Whenever you get a Grand Star, another section of the Observatory lights up. Not only that, but more NPCs appear and you can interact with them. And when you do mandatory Star rescue missions, more NPCs get added. And when you progress the story a bit, some NPCs might even show up in worlds.
----> The point is: albeit SPM is a small game, it feels alive. This is not saying that KH does not feel alive, but it can sure as hell do a better job in this department.
...Hell, I was going to talk about various flaws I find in the series, but I guess we can honestly summarize everything with this:
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.
The dialogue? It has ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.
Storytelling? Has some ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.
See my point? This series is at a stage of its life cycle that it should have little, to no room for improvement. Yet, here we are, arguing which is the worst point of the series.
Yes, not all games are perfect, but seriously, they can try to have a game that has, again, little to no room for improvement.
Which is why I'm looking forward to the end of the Xehanort Saga and see whatever lies ahead. Nomura and the team have hopefully learned their lesson and will try to start the next saga as a clean slate and reboot in the sense that they're gonna give it their all and try to make a game that doesn't have the series' "historic" flaws. '_'

Worst aspects in the series is not a lot of free roam in the worlds imo. I know that the developers made it to where there was more room and areas you can travel to in worlds like in KH2, but I felt that there needed to be more free roam in the worlds. After seeing the KH3 trailer, I'm really going to be pleased if there will be lots of free roam in each world (most likely). I like how they are changing that.
There are some aspects that I believe could be improved on in KH, but it's not really too big of a deal since I still love them how they are. But here they are anyway:
- Free roaming is a little lacking
- Not a lot of NPCs
- Some of the animations on faces make me cringe
But those things above really aren't that big of a deal.
