Trump has been awful for American policy and industries but he's been even worse for comedy. The unfunny neener-neenering that liberal comedians have been up to for the past nine years has been insufferable and unfunny

It’s not over until the final vote is counted. That said, the current results are worrying.

Enough of the votes have been counted that it is clear he has secured enough electoral votes. Wisconsin and Pennsylvania both went red and there’s no path for Kamala without those two states. It is over.

i quit. There is no point in believing in this country anymore. Fuck any minorities stupid enough to vote for Trump. You have put a guy who clearly hates you in charge of everything you hold dear.

Not surprising to me at all in the slightest. And the Democrats have nobody to blame but themselves. Sheer hubris and repeating their disastrous 2016 campaign only to get the exact same result but worse.

I actually don't feel anything at all looking at this result. No rage, no anger, nothing. It was like watching an accident happen in front of you but you couldn't do anything to stop it.

You can of course, blame Trump voters for voting Trump, but that doesn't solve your issue, does it? How about the fact that this was the Democrats' election to lose, and they decided to do it spectacularly? Don't let them get away with this and put up another establishment candidate in 2028.

EDIT: @Launchpad was 100% on the money when he said this stemmed from 2016 and the very anti-democratic way Sanders' nomination ended. And then it happened again in 2020, but in 2020 you guys just got lucky that out of both parties, less people hated the Dems

went wrong in a few places
- joe biden running for reelection despite being old as fuck and having a -20 approval rating
- was too late to run a proper primary-- kamala thrown to the wolves. voters like to vote for people that they voted for so that they can vote for who they voted for when they vote again
- kamala simped for the right, gave almost nothing to the left
- really, really wishy washy on gaza
- shilled out for celebrity endorsements and rallies full of already initiated liberals instead of signaling hope for the disillusioned
- continuing to ignore young under-educated men. yucky, i know, but those little fuckers came out to vote and they voted for trump
- allowed trump to make economy HIS thing when it'd be so easy to say more than him

I think she ran a pretty rigorous campaign, she certainly wasn't lazy like Hillary but the democrats keep simping for the same establishment that so many people are disillusioned with.

Time and time and time again we've seen the only antidote to alt right fascist politics is REAL POSITIVE SOCIALIST change that fat cats in the establishment are so damn afraid of that they will literally cut off their nose to spite their face.

And they just keep doing it, all over the world, and when they do it they get to go on tv shows, and sit on round tables with all their friends and go "but HOW did this happen??? We're the good guys!!!" Conveniently forgetting they spent the last year saying, "hey you, buddy, I actually think you're a piece of shit, and I actually don't want to make life better for you in any way shape or form, but hey, you're gonna vote for me, right?".

You don't get to promise the status quo when ordinary people can't afford food and bills anymore, and think it'll work just because the other guy is spouting nonsense. What you're missing is the nonsense he's spouting is about how he'll make Normal Joe's life easier. Will he? No! We know that, but Normal Joe is being run ragged at his 9-5, so why is he gonna vote for the status quo?

You don't get to IGNORE repeated calls to give yourself ANY kind of message on an ongoing genocide, literally anything at all, you could have thrown a bone you didn't even mean, and then turn around and be surprised when people who feel GENOCIDE is a red line decide they'll stay out home or vote third party. You know what the other guy did though? And we know he doesn't mean it but you know what he did? Went to the place where the people who's relatives are being killed lived, and paid em lip service. And he did it right at the 11th hour, but it was obviously enough. Because you didn't even do that much!

It's not leftists who have to navel gaze, it's liberals and centrists, who keep losing power because they think the status quo is something worth fighting for, and they'd rather be out of power than have to give that up. And when they DO get into power, it's only because the public hates them LESS than they do the far right.

How many damn times is this pattern gonna be repeated all over the world.

Hindsight bias but the writing was on the wall for her loss. The battle was already an uphill one for several reasons:

1. Joe Biden dropping out so late so she only had around 100 days to campaign.
2. Her association with Joe Biden's administration: horrible approval ratings. Practically a historical indicator that she was destined to lose.
3. Her race and gender.

I think she tried her best but sometimes doing what you think is best isn't enough. Her campaign made several critical missteps:

1. Her horrible answer on "The View" agreeing with not changing anything from Biden.
2. Her stance on Gaza and Israel's crimes wasn't enough for many people. The horrible way the DNC treated the idea of a Palestinian speaking. How Arab voters were pushed to the side as expendable. The horrible idea to send Bill Clinton to MI to "check them."
3. Her campaign's awful choice to appeal to Republicans which failed horribly and did not have any payoff.
4. Her campaign did not motivate Democrats to go out and vote. Exit polls showed people voted for her more so because they did not want Trump in office and less so for her. This is why she also lost the popular vote.

Will the Democrats make the ill decision to move further right? I guess we can only wait. It's horrific that we've even been put in this situation.
