Violin

The bow glides across blue strings
No one can hear her silent screams
Her tears fall lightly to the ground
Her sobs can make no sound

The violin makes no music
The bow makes no trick
The strings do not vibrate
Its only intention is to sedate

Ribbons fall from the blue strings
The bow glides while she sings
Scars will be left behind
Only for her friends to find

Her song is of love and pain
Sorrow has never been so plain
Rather than hurt another with her fists
She plays the violin on her wrists

I don't remember when I wrote this, but it was a few years ago, while I was still in High School. It was my first published poem.

True Blue Rose

Good night, my Blue Rose, I wish you sweet dreams
While you dream, I want you to dream about this
Someone who will never ask you to change who you are
Someone who will love you no matter what
I want you to find this person
Not the people who get upset that you need something more than what you are getting
Not someone who will fight you
Someone who will work with you
I want your dreams to be of someone who loves you for all that you are
Rather than for someone you are not
When you find this person, hold onto them
A red rose is easy to find, so are yellow ones and pink ones
I want you to find your own Blue Rose
Male or female, long hair or short, a true Blue Rose is a Blue Rose no matter what
Some don't believe that Blue Roses exist, so they settle on red ones
While pretty, they are everywhere
But you have proved that they do, and they are so rare that you can not buy them in a shop
Some believe that they can only be made, but an artificial blue rose is still a while rose
You don't want a white rose with dye, you want a blue one

Part of the inspiration for this was the song "The Last Blue Rose".

Song of Storms

Let it rain
Let it rain
Bring the sky's teardrops of pain
Listen to Her sobs
As the rain does drop
Thunderstorms
Lightning Storms
Loudly Her emotion forms
While Her silent tears come down

Falling down
Falling down
Pitter patter on the ground
Darkness covers all
Quietly they fall
All Her tears
All Her fears
Swiftly now Her Hero nears
Riding through the rain for Her

Should I maybe post more?

I should of went into this thread sooner. YES! Please post more of your poems! They are a hundred percent unique and superb to read. My favorite ended up being the True Blue Rose. I'd like to believe that Blue Roses exist in our world compared to all of the yellow, reds and pinks out there. It makes the hopeless romantic in me sing (I can sing?). I thought the Violin was one full of sorrow. I'm not sure what to make of it but, perhaps it was to show her feelings through something else instead of a violin because, it went amiss for so long until this person took drastic measures to show the pain and love she felt inside of herself. The Song of Storms reminds me a lot of Legend of Zelda. Which is what I think the poem itself is based off of this. And on that final note, well done! I hope you post more of your poems soon!

What is it you seek?
That which you only know of in your heart?
Something you can feel, but not always see?
You can sense it, can't you?
You know when love is true
You know when hate is present
You know not to fear it
You know to respect it
You know the damage it can do
The pain it can give
The delight and joy that comes from it
You can use it
Bend it to your will
You know how much you can handle
To you, it is a toy and a tool in one
You know when to stop it
You know when to free it
Warmth gives you comfort
The char on the note gives you closure
It's a pleasure to be around
The natural smell of burning wood
The passion in you is fierce
If this is something you desire
Your Element might just be Fire

Thank you so much<3 And yeah, The Song of Storms is the Song of Storms from LoZ. Listen to the music and you'll hear the same rhythm that the poem is to be read, spoken, or in my case, sang in.

You're welcome!

I believe the heart is both cruel and kind. Almost like a double edged sword. It can be hard upon anyone to know use it wisely. A battle that is often fought on a daily basis. I nearly overlooked the "note" mentioned in this poem. I imagine this takes place around a camp fire or fire place. You inspire great imagination with this one. I'm not sure how to feel about it but, it did get me thinking a lot about myself and the actions I will take in my life. :)

Sense the change
Adapt
Freely you move
Swiftly but calmly
Weightlessly you drift
As time flows, so do you
Watching and waiting
Observing
The tears in your eyes are not weakness
They are strength
You don't mind who sees
Steady and strong
Gentile and quiet
Loud and powerful
You can be all of these at once
If for you these truths do not falter
Your element may be Water

I'm going to assume you're going to go through the elements? I like this poem except I doubt my element is water. C: It'd be nice if I could adapt to my surroundings, moving freely without care, and cry without holding back. (I don't cry because I believe it makes me weak.) So, I envy those that have the element of water. I wonder what your next poem will be about?

Proud, you stand tall
Unafraid of what others think
Creativity flows through you
The wilderness is your home
The dirt under your fingernails is a sign of a job well done
Or just that you've had some fun
To you, they are the same
You like to feel the ground under you
A couple bugs here and there are fine
The seasons changing bring about a new piece of you that was dormant before
Quiet and peaceful
Strong and confident in who you are
Bringing a sense of stability with you
If these truths have been with you since birth
Your element may be Earth

The wild storm within you can not be tamed
Fierce you are when the outcome is poor
Determined, you carry on
Lifting the spirits of others
Without you, they don't hold on very long
You bring some to their knees
You help others soar
Yet you do not need their recognition
It's who you are
The power behind the success
Is merely the whisper of the wind
If within these words, the mirror you do stare
Your element may be Air

Careful, for your eyes are imperfect
Close them and look within
There, you will find the truth
Your senses heightened
Colors are bright and vivid
Touch can feel things that don't seem to be there
Taste and smell become one as you experience your surroundings
Your favorite sound is all you hear
You feel others too
Their pain, their happiness
Even their future
All of this can come to you
Their past
Your past
Things you never knew
They are part of you
Tell me friend
Your dreams, do they not feel familiar?
This place you've never seen, you've already been there, haven't you?
You aren't crazy
Many think that you are insane when they hear it
Though your element, it is probably Spirit

I can't tell which element I am like the most. I like each poem you've done thus far. :D I wonder which element describes you the best? Hmm, it almost makes me think of Avatar the Last Airbender or Legend of Korra, because both tv series dabbles in the elements. Anyhow, its a joy to read about each element that you've described. All of them flow nicely to read, and I hope to see more poems in the future.

Oh you will, and to be honest, I had just watched Legend of Korra when I was writing those, but I'm not seeing them as Bending elements, but as Real Elements. The ones that we have affinities for in this world. The Spirit World in the Avatar serieses, to me anyway, looks like a cross between the Fey Realm and the Spirit Realm. Not many people can access either of them from Our Realm, but some can. The series does have a shred of truth to it, even if it is a religious truth.

Her dream, her despair
Held fast by many
Based on stories from the dancer
An Opera Ghost
They all believed
Inside her mind
His shape took form
The performers made him real
Unbearable pain from her father's passing
The Angel of Music was born
Grief made her confident
A performer's grudge against the Viscount
The stories and rumors he took
His face he burned
He sought revenge
Her heart taken out from under him
Deaths, accidents,murders
The sources were may
The blame on the Ghost
Her Ghost
Only rumors connected everything
Stories and sadness gave birth to a monster
Fear so powerful, lives were lost
Her mind replaced her father
Created a lover
He existed only in our minds
Our fears manifested
Our desires made real
The dagger of our sorrow
The Phantom of the Opera is there
Inside our minds

I believe I have only seen Phantom of the Opera once. Kind of a shame how tales such as these are twisted over time. I don't know, if its based off a true story or not. I suppose that's why such things exist and become so popular in the media. Its kind of tragic, when I give this poem a lot of thought.

I believe in the possibility of a Fey Realm existing in our own world. I'm not really religious, so I have a pretty open mind to anything being possible in our world. I mostly say this, because some people have great intuition and a great deal of abilities that can't be explained. I actually think its pretty cool how you thought of our actual elements instead of the bending ones for your poetry. But you're right, there is a shred of truth to folk lore, myths and legends and ect. :D

Well, as a Witch, the Elements mean a lot to me. Each one has it's own unique properties that I can call upon to do what I need. I have great respect for them.

As far as the realms, they are all connected, but many can't access the others. Someone like the Avatar would be able to, but we are much more common than one per generation.

The Fight of 9-7-14

I hate you! Get out of this house!
No, go back into your room and hide, shoo shoo!
You always do this to me! After all of these years you haven't changed....
Oh quit your crying and go hide!
You're the one who always hides away!
I talked to mom and she said that she wouldn't give you my number when I leave
We are SISTERS! We NEED each other!
We are only sisters by blood, nothing more
You are a thief, why can't you just ask before you take something?!
You know, because you told me not to get you anything, I canceled the game station I was getting you for your birthday
I don't care! You always hold that kind of thing over my head anyway
I was going to get you a cake today too, but now I won't!
I had my party at work anyway, so I don't care about that either
Just go back into your room already....
No! I hurt, I've been lonely for the past several weeks, and this is the first time I've even seen you and you took the one thing that I was hoping to have waiting for me when I got home last night.....
I've been enjoying not being around you
Well I've hated it! You are still my sister and I need you
No you don't.....
Yes, I do. I've been going insane because I have had no one to talk to....
Look.... I'm hungry, I'll be back in twenty minutes or so....
I'm sorry...I feel a bit better now.....
Yeah... me too.... Now I kind of wanna go out to eat instead....
If I get dressed, will you go pick up mom?
.......Does she even want to go? I don't think she can afford to pay for herself...
I don't care, I'll pay. And she wants to go.
I'll call her.
If she's worried about needing a shower, tell her that I stink too.
Ok, we'll just hose you both down with Febreze!
That works!
So where to? Buck's?
I can't pay for that.
I said I'd pay for it. Even alcohol if you wanted.
Wanna play a round of Magic when we get back?
That's a stupid question. I'm driving, let's get mom. And get her to hurry up this time.
I shall be Speedy Gonzales!

The grip slows the beating of my heart
My throat is tightened with no release
My eyes pour streams of tears
There is no sound coming from my body
I see more clearly than usual
My breath is shallow
I am calm
Relaxed
I sway, yet I am still
I tilt forward and back
Gravity has no place in my mind
Up is nothing, nor is down
Sounds drift away
I am not tired, yet am an inch from sleep
My stomach is in my throat
My mouth is empty, yet I feel that there is a flavorless ball on my tongue
Rolling gently back and forth
Another one at the back of my throat
Light and dark are the same
If you wanted, you could take control
I'd be none the wiser
This is my trance
My inspiration
My meditation
I feel nothing
I am nothing
I have no limits
I have no boundaries
I can do anything

You'd be the first person I met that states they're a witch. :3 To each their own.

The first part of this astonishes me a bit. I imagine this to be more like dialog than a poem itself. It was an intense read, but seeing the sisters make up was nice. It's certainly not easy being a sister. Sometimes there's rivalry, or bitterness, before things can be mended. I know what that's like in some ways. Honesty is the best policy in this case.

The second part makes me thing of a roller coaster. Or perhaps a car accident to some weird degree. Clearly its more about meditating, but I have an active imagination, when it comes to poems themselves. :3 The power of being able to do anything, stands out to me the most.

His body is a cage
Uncomfortable and cold
Unable to escape
The key eludes him
His family refuses his name
Refuses his choice
He can find little comfort in the clothing he wears
Few understand his needs and desires
Even fewer accept him for who he is
The cage is just wrong
Though most find that cage to be their home and right
He seeks escape more than anything else
Most think he should stay where he is
Few wish him to be free
Rarely can he see out the windows, for they have been blacked out
Once in a while, someone comes by and scrapes the paint off for him
Just for someone else to paint them over again when they leave
For now, all that can be done is scrape the paint away bit by bit
Hopefully, a little less will be covered this time
One day, I hope to see the key find the cage door so he can finally change it into a home and scrape the paint off himself
Until then, I will scrape as much away as I can
Then maybe, he can take over and be who he was always meant to be

This reminds me of a few things. I can only imagine how hard it is to feel this way. I respect all types of people in the world. I hope those that find the key can find happiness in who they are. No matter what someone else says. It's not easy, but if you can endure it, survive it, then that gives you more power over yourself than anyone else will ever have over you. A strong message this poem truly is. Well done, Darkness of White.

If you love someone, let them go
If they return, they were always yours
If not, they never were

We both have been freed
We both have returned to each other
You told me that we were together
Gave me titles restricted for a relationship
I told you of plans that no one else knew of
Shown you things that no one else has seen
Promised you things that no one else is allowed to have

You told me that it wouldn't last
You told me that he wasn't right, but you wanted to give him one last chance
You never rejected my plans
You returned what I showed you
You said you would like the things I'd promised you

Now you say he has a ring
That you're going for it
That you didn't think I was serious
Even though I have done everything in my power to do the same for so long
He manages it in a couple weeks
Where he has also made you cry
Made you physically ill
Made you come to MY arms for comfort where he acted as if he couldn't care less

But he got you a ring

I made offers that could destroy my very body
His offer was to keep you in a cage that you hate
Instead of supporting you, he tried to make deals with you to keep you in that cage
Saying you can only leave it if you replace that cage with another person

Is that really love?
To say that the shell is more important than the person?
To make you stay somewhere you hate just to keep him?
Is it love to blow your sobs off so he does not have to interrupt his precious game?
Yet two good days with him and you're more than willing to stay in that cage for his happiness
What about yours?

You always smile when we talk
You tell me that you cry nearly every time you and he talk
All I've ever heard of him was bad
Yet there's a ring now, so everything is ok?

Is a ring all there is to love?

I'm lost
The wooded, sunlit grove before me
The only way I could see myself following
My path has disappeared before my eyes
The path I was running with all of my might
Is now a windy desert
The rose I held
From blue to black it has withered
Crumbled to dust
My tears have already evaporated
I cling to the black dust
Yet the howling wind pulls it away
Was it just an illusion?
All these years, the blue rose pinned to my breast
Guarding my heart
So suddenly it wilted
So quickly it crumbled
This place is all too familiar
It is where I was before my rose found me
This windy desert
Stinging my eyes once again
But this time, I don't even see my footprints behind me
Do I once again close my eyes and retreat into my mind for comfort?
Or do I bare the pain, pick a direction, and walk?

A bittersweet kind of poem this time around. No ring is worth giving up your freedom. Sometimes love isn't all what it seems. It ties down a person, makes them do things that go against their own wishes, and harms them and those around them. Therefore, you should always be careful not to give your heart away so easily. To have a person reduced to such a state over a ring and terrible deals, should get help. More so than that, you lose your dignity and morals, if you let this person have power over you. It's not healthy to be in a relationship such as this one.

The hopelessness in being loss is a daunting one. I believe it depends on a person's actually strength to make it through the pain and suffering of being lost for good, or hoping for survival, if they can make it that far. Retreating inside of your mind is ideal, because it does keep you from mentally breaking down. However, it can't always save you from the reality you face. Eventually, you have to come out, or you can't say you're living. Life is about being lost and in pain. There's no getting around it.

Paint me a rainbow
No, not the one you see in the sky
The simple arc of seven colors
No, paint me one that no one can see but you
What is it you see?
Is it as simple as bands of black, white, and grey?
Or is it as grand as antiqued brass, gold, and silver?
Maybe a neon pink and an ocean blue?
Maybe it's in swirls or triangles
Only you can paint this rainbow
Only you can share what it is to you
We all see the same rainbow outside
Show me what the true rainbow that is inside
Your rainbow

A deep poem that can be interpret in a number of ways. What I like about this poem is that it can mean something completely different to others. It's almost like how you perceive a person vs. what they're actually like, unless you get to know them. Or perhaps, this really is just about rainbows and what colors and shapes you see them in? Something so simply can have a lot of impact and power on it. I tip my hat to you, Darkness of White. This will be food for thought for me to think on for a bit.

The last chapter before the story ends
But I don't want to close the book
I want it to last as long as possible
I've grown to love the story too much to want it to end so quickly
It's too precious to me to let it go
But I have to hand it away gently
Or it'll be wrenched from my hands and damaged once the cover is slammed shut
This precious book has kept me sane for a long time
Its pages bringing me comfort when I was sad
Its words calming me when I was angry
But soon, the book will close and I will have to return it
Give it back to Mother
Hopefully She will remind me of the joys I have had with my treasure
So long I have held it close that I no longer know what to do without its guidance
But it's time to give it back....
The cover is worn
The spine has been repaired one too many times
I fear that the pages are ready to fall apart
Only Mother can keep them together now
She is good at keeping pages together, even after the cover has long gone
The book must be returned
But the story.... I will keep that with me forever
If only in memory

My sweet
So gentile and frail
You are about to get the gift I never wanted to give
But I have to because you need it
I've been wishing that this day would not come
Though I have been feeling it creeping up on us for some time now
Now I am not the only one who sees it
It's time to put an end to this
I hope you forgive me for betraying you like this
I hope you come back to me one day
You don't deserve this pain
The clock ticks and you seem to have an understanding of what is to come
So please, forgive me, for giving you the freedom you deserve
No matter how much it pains me, I love you too much to let you endure this any longer
I hope that these years together have been as wonderful for you as they were for me
"If you love someone, let them go" has never hurt so much before
It's not a punishment that I free you, it's a reward for giving everything I ever needed of you and more
And now you need this of me, and I am reluctant to give it because of my selfishness
I just hope my tears tell you how much I love you where my words falter
I hereby release you from your cage
Let the healing begin

The first poem was my favorite. I always feel that way when it comes to my favorite books. Luckily, I don't have to give my book away and can keep reading it as many times as I like. If I were to have a different outlook on this, my thoughts would be that, we are the writers of our own stories and they sometimes come to an end, but remain fresh in our memories as we add onto them each day.

The second poem is quite sad. I have different views of this, because I also think of death associating with it. A loved one is the most hardest to let go of. I can only hope the person setting him/her free can stay on their own two feet and smile as a sign of strength despite how torn apart they may feel. At one time, we were all alone before we fell in love and held onto that person like a raft lost at sea. Just have to endure it and carry on.
