I recently updated the drivers to my ATI Radeon 9250

The problem was Resolution and Gameplay mode (D3D, OpenGL, Software) in Counter-Strike 1.6

OpenGL is the best for my GFX card and it was not working.

After I updated the drivers it seemed to be working fine until my monitor screen froze, turned black popped back up with a (VPU Recovery, Send Error report message)

I ignored it and continued to play.
But then the monitor went black again and didnt come back on.
It has done this every time I get on Counter-Strike and after I'm on my computer for a while.

I think I may have messed up something when I updated the drivers.

Can anyone help?

I have the same problem with my X1900 GT, sometimes.

I find it only happens when I'm running something graphically heavy. I have heating issues with my card (still...), so that's my assumption as to why it's happening.

It's possible that you're having the same problem. You're working your video card too hard, and it's over heating.

Right now my Screen resolution is 1024x768 with 32-bit color.

If I change to 16-bit will it still overheat?

Well.
I changed to 16-bit and modified the game quality to automatically play the Game's Preferred settings.

And it is still overheating =/
I'm not sure what to do

Lower the graphics right down to the bare minimum. If that doesn't work then there's two things, that I can think of:

a) Overheating isn't the problem, and there was something with the driver installation

b) Your computer just can't handle the game

Well, maybe three. You could always pick up a fan or two, and put those in.

Get a new fan for your card.

and BB, Counter Strike 1.6 isnt really the best, graphics wise. So im sure his computer can handle it.

He needs to place his PC in a place where it can vent easier. And probably install a new fan for his card.

Give it some room to circulate the air.(IE DON'T PUT IT NEXT TO THE WALL) Out side of that i don't know what to tell you....

oh wait.... hows your air intake and exhaust... to much of either may cause problems.

Seriously.
I'm not so stupid that I would put it against the wall =p.

Idk about intake, I'll check it and edit later.

You see, alot of people are. They teach you in my computer repair class to ask any question that are related to the issue: the simplest to the most complex.

How many fans do you have and how many are intake/outtake.
