Just a warning... This is entirely speculation and is most likely wrong... BUT it could explain the whole Ienzo/Zexion thing age difference thing.

Basically it involves the addition of an 'X' to the organizations name. Maybe the 'X' is there for a reason besides making the names cool. As all of us know 'X' is the roman numeral for years. So, maybe the members of Organization XIII are somehow altered to become ten years older after becoming a nobody.

I'm NOT saying that they age over time. I'm saying that the process causes their nobodies to appear ten years older than they actually are.

The older members of the Organization don't appear that much older because people age less as the are older, but there some of them do look different.

Even appears to be much 'healthier' looking than Vexen does.
Dilan's hair appears to be much shorter than Xaldin's is.
Braig is missing the streak of grey hair that Xigbar has.

The obvious exception is Roxas... But that could be explained by the fact that he is a special nobody and that his somebody is still living.

Feel free to rip this apart... I doubt that it's true anyway. It was just a thought that came to my mind. Sorry if somebody mentioned this already - I haven't read the reactions to the scans to thoroughly.

I'm not sure about this. It depends on the time they became a Nobody though. I think it's most likely that the apprentices becomes nobodies about 10 years after BBS( giving time for the ones like Ienzo more time to get taller and Braig to look more 'messed up'), rather than the apprentices having their appearance altered. But your theory does provide a possibility on why an X is added to their names.

Sounds way too farfetched. If anything, I think the 'X' in their names signifies emptiness, being void, invalid, crossed-out etc.; qualities all to do with Nobodies.

I don't know but this can be helpful for the Terra = Xehanort theory

My only question is why? Why would the body and soul advance in years after losing their hearts.

I was thinking the same the thing... To be honest, I have no idea. But I doubt that the process of losing one's heart is painless. Perhaps the stress of this causes the body to age rapidly.

Another idea would be that it has something to do with the time it takes for the nobody to manifest itself in 'real world' (is there a better term for this?) rather than the realm of nothingness. But again, the obvious exception is Roxas, and I don't want to use the fact that he's a special nobody as a cop out, but the only other thing I can think of is even more far-fetched than my original idea.

@Du Soleil: That's what I always thought as well, but I really doubt that Nomura would miss such an obvious error in the timeline as the messing up someone's age.
The only other explanation that I've seen has been that nobodies age, but people have already said that Nomura stated that they don't age.

That is a pretty interesting thought, but highly unlikely. Like Du Solei,l the 'X' in their names signifies emptiness, being void, invalid, crossed-out etc.; qualities all to do with Nobodies.

Do people totally avoid common sense when thinking these things out?

Ienzo was a brilliant child.
The apprentices wanted him.
Ienzo, years later, becomes a teenager.
Ienzo and the other apprentices become nobodies.
Ienzo and the other nobodies are stuck in their ages.

Yes, Ienzo was a brilliant child.
Yes, the apprentices wanted him.
But if nobodies don't age and they only had one year after Birth by Sleep to age, then how could he have gained ten more years?

Maybe, but wouldn't the nobodies notice this difference and say something about it?

10 years? That just seems like a long period of time. It should be an instant process just like Roxas. Plus if that true Xemnas and the rest of the nobodies of Ansem the Wise's students would be brand new. Since Xemnas has been around for only 9 years if Leon story holds up.

The apprentices become Nobodies one year after BBS
the only way I think its possible is that Ienzo went through puberty quick just like SKR

Maybe they did when it first happened. By the time we first meet the nobodies, they could have easily gotten used to it.

Yeah... I didn't really like that part either.

But Ansem the Wise mentioned Xehanort being pretty young. I'm not sure 30 is pretty young.

I heard Nomura stating that Xehanort is 30
and pretty young can be different from anybodies point of view
Ansem seems older that Xehanort, probably old enough to call people in their 30's young
People in their 60's call people in their 40's young

Roxas didn't age and in bbs we don't know if they were conducting heart experiments. I think that starts when Ansem the Wise finds Xehanort.
