GG was a footnote? He was undoubtedly the main villain of the entire series. Venom was in no way more important than Goblin in Spectacular. The large majority of the mystery and suspense in both seasons was in relation to Osborn. As for the Shocker's place of origin, like I said, you're assuming he's from New York in the Spectacular universe. Something as simple as where he's from being changed doesn't really matter much in an adaptation, and definitely not when it comes to the Shocker, so.....eh. Long as everything else is straight, which it was, I don't see the reason for the fuss. The villains being simple stereotypes also doesn't hold much water with me as I felt Greg did great things with Goblin, Venom, Sandman, Doc Ock, Jameson's son, and Electro, and I'm sure even more would've been done had the series not, you know, been cancelled like it was.
As for Spidey cracking jokes, I've read Stan Lee's original run on Amazing (just did so this past summer) and I'm well aware of what you're referring to. If you've actually seen a trailer for Amazing Spidey, it seems to be even darker than Raimi's trilogy. But word on the street from those who have seen some of the footage at events like Comic Con is Peter is quite the smartass in the Spidey suit. Spider-Man has grown into the wisecracking hero I'm referring to, and it just doesn't feel like him without that aspect of him being played up. That's such a big reason of why I relate to him, so I can understand how it's not as important to others, but to me it makes a world of difference.
