I'm thinking about getting a BlackBerry 8830 sometime soon (i'm with Sprint) and I was wondering about the price and discounts. so everyone in my family has an open phone line and mine will be the 5th, how much do you get off a phone when you open a new line? my mom said its $150 off, but the phone is $549.99 which still leaves it at $400. and do you still get a mail in rebate to ge with it? because i'm trying to get the phone at the cheapest price but i'm not sure if things like internet or mail cost money to have on your phone.

If you're gonna recommend that I should call in or go to the store:
First, people who answer the phone for those types of things usually don't speak english too well, and I dont know anything about buying phones.
Second, my mom has been busy lately so I cant go to the Sprint store.

anyone who works at a phone company or knows anything about this please help. thank you!

hope someone posts here.....

Well, if you are opening a new line, when you buy the phone or look at the ad it usually says there. Like get the Blackberry for a new low price of $99.00 (not actual price I think) and in small print it says with Activation of new line and $20.00 instant mail-in rebate or something along those lines. So read the fine print.

Why do you want that?

Well said, the fine print always ruins the deal, I got tricked that way once and ended out paying double of the phones original price...

The place I'm looking at is on the internet. the sprint website. but yes, there still are those types of messages on it so thanks.

do you think the BlackBeryy 8830 or Treo 700wx is better? I'm going for a flat phone (not sure what the name would be) than a slide or flip phone. since Sprint hardly has any to choose from, most are smartphones.

The Moto-Q and Katana, are the two phones I would pick. First is with your criteria, second is the one I like.

Well I have Sprint, and well they don't have a really great selection of phones. Since, they are mostly for work, like businessman/woman with Blackberries, or construction workers with the rugged phones. The Blackberry goes down in price everytime the release a new version or so, but this doesn't happen to often so you're kind of stuck with what it is.

oh thanks a lot Kubota, you've been a great amount of help. but two more question please? haha. (I really want to get the right phone)

do you think if I can find the Blackberry 8830 (or whichever phone I want) on a website like Amazon.com for a cheaper price then at the store, should it get it from the website? like at the Sprint store I might only get $150 off the original price ($550 with me ending up paying about $400), but the websites' price might be like $300. so which do you think would be better to buy the phone from in the end?

and do you think the BlackBerry 8830 would be okay for a non-buisness person? or basically someone who's not exactly heavy on, or really needs the e-mail, internet, documents, file downloading, or traveling features? I know that sounds like everything BlackBerrys are for, (I would still use them though or course) but I would rather have a smartphone then a construction worker phone, even if the price is a bit high.

Well, if you buy it off of somewhere like Amazon make sure it isn't opened and it works. They may not activate it if it has been opened also it will more then likely be damaged. The Blackberry would be fine for you even thought you don't need that stuff. I'm guessing you're getting it because it isn't ugly? If thats the reason then I would get Katana, i670, or the Blackberry if you really want it. Also, from what I see the Blackberry 8830 is only $199.99 off the website.

yeah, "because it isnt ugly" lol. the Katana 2 and the Musiq by LG are both second options if the BlackBerry thing doesnt work out.

so I assume you're saying getting it off the internet isn't a great choice?

well thanks again for all your help! hope thats all the questions I have..... hehe
