I could have sworn there was already a thread on this, however I couldn't locate it, so here we are, making a new thread.

Also mentioned here: Movies Coming Soon

This isn't the same KH/Disney Classic wonderland we all remember. Tim Burton has taken this to a whole nutha level o.o

No doubt this is going to be a twisted and dark film. I mean, it's Tim Burton. How dark though? Who knows. Anyway, here are some shots of the new film.

Any thoughts on this film?

Re: Tim Burton's - Alice in Wonderland (2010)

I heard about this a few days ago. When I heard that Tim Burton was going to be doing it, I just knew Johnny Depp would be apart of it somehow. Should be interesting to see how he does as the mad hatter. I've never really been a fan of Alice in Wonderland but hopefully I'll like this. Always loved Burtons work before, so there's a high chance of me liking it.

I wish he'd stop doing adaptations, doesn't matter though.

Slightly relevant:

^ Yeah, there have been quite a few different film adaptations of the whole Alice in Wonderland story. I never really cared for the story, however I know Burton adds quite the unique twist to things, so I'd like to see where he goes with this one.

@kaizer

Yeah it seems that when you hear of a Burton creation you think of Depp. Depp and Burton kinda go hand in hand eh?

Yea, it seems that way. They do good work with each other and they both benefit from working with each other so it's no surprise that they would be working together again. It's rare when you find an actor and director that work so well with each other.

Interesting. Can't wait to see how Burton handles the project; although I certainly hope he doesn't pull a bat out of his ass and give us something inhumanely depressing. Dark is fine, but not brutally so. It's Alice in Wonderland.

Although, I really liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; maybe he'll go along that route.

Also, lolol Helena Bonham Carter. I should have guessed.

That reminds me of Terry Gilliam's Tideland. Horrible movie. A bit like Alice in Wonderland and pretty depressing.

I'm looking forward to it.

Alice in Wonderland is already wacky in an artistic way. Just add in Burton's dark themes...

and I think it'll be real nice. I'd love to see it when it comes out.

As long as this doesn't end up as a dark disgrace to the original story then I'm all for it.

This.
I love Alice in Wonderland, and I'm eager to see how Tim Burton portrays the story in his film.

Wooo. It's finally come.

You know this is not the original Alice he's doing. He's making a film of American Mcgee's Alice. You know, the video game.

Re: Tim Burton's - Alice in Wonderland (2010)

My mom brought this up at Dinner yesterday.

First off... the original Disney scared the crap out of me.
Like, it gave me horrible nightmares. XD

And thinking about Burton's adaptation gives me the chills.

I'm going to see it only because I'm such a huge fan of his other work.
He's amazing.

So yes, I'm going to see it. Just to see how it works out. =3

Really? I didn't know that. But I've heard of the video game. That's certainly interesting. o.o;

I have a feeling that this portrayal will depict how Alice in Wonderland was supposed to be.

Re: Tim Burton's - Alice in Wonderland (2010)

American McGee's take on the story sucked. I loved the designs, but the story sucked balls. The very second a character's use is outlived they die. That's just being dark for darkness sake. The original writing was disturbingly witty. I personally hope Burton does like he did with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and base it more on the book rather than the outher movie.
