It's in the title. You technology geniuses, what third-party mp3 player would to recommend to someone wholly ignorant of this subject?

EDIT: Third party here means not Zune or iPod, btw.

It depends on what you want out of it... File compatibility, ease of use, storage size...

Well, I don't have that many songs, so storage is not much of an issue, and I don't like synchronizing my music. I would much rather just drag n' drop. But ease of use and compatibility would be fairly important. So is pricing.

However, if you know of one which is just plain awesome, feel free to tell me about it.

I use a 40$ wal-mart "Philips" one.

Simple controls, plenty of storage space. Only problem is it's slightly slow at scrolling through stuff.

The first mp3 player I got, MPIO something.. Amazingly easy to use and simple to put songs on it.
