So a thread about who I, or we, think are the greatest musicians to touch the world with their talents.
Note : this doesn't necessarily mean they are talented in a traditional sense, more just musicians I think are good at what they do from just a listening perspective. I don't have the musical knowledge to judge them based on such talent. I'm willing to bet most of you don't either.

Vocals

Anthony Green (Circa Survive) - after Riel's thread I re-downloaded their stuff, and I love his voice.
Dallas Green (City and Colour, Alexisonfire)
Matt Bellamy (Muse)
Robin Pecknold (Fleet Foxes)
Nick Cave (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds)
Cedric Bixler-Zavala (The Mars Volta, At The Drive In)
Davey Havoc (AFI)
Kele Okereke (Bloc Party)
John Frusciante (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) - I like him more than Anthony, though I do enjoy both of them.
Jack Black (Tenacious D) - Seriously....
Hayley Williams (Paramore)
Ollie Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon) - I find them bearable because I think his vocals are quite refreshing for the whole 'death metal' genre...
Howlin' Pelle (The Hives)
Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)
Natasha Khan (Bat For Lashes)
Bjork (Bjork)
Wally DeBecker (Gotye)
Robert Harvey (The Music)
So on.....

Guitar
Yannis Philippakis and Jimmy Smith (Foals) - fuck, simple as music. But together with the effects and sounds they can make with their instruments I absolutely adore Foals
John Butler (John Butler Trio)
Johnny Marr (The Smiths, Modest Mouse)
Omar Rodríguez-López (The Mars Volta, At The Drive In)
Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age)

I will add to this one..

Bass Guitar
Jesse F Keeler (Death From Above 1979)
Flee (Red Hot Chilli Peppers)
Eric Judy (Modest Mouse)
Sting (The Police)
Dave Konopka (Battles)
Christopher Wolstenholme (Muse)
Walter Gervers (Foals) - this might come up a bit

Drums
John Bohnam (Led Zeppelin)
Travis Barker (Blink 182, Plus 44) - from a drummer's point of view, this guy can fucking drum.
Dominic Howard (Muse) - cause he is left handed as well ^^
Jack Bevan (Foals) - Im a bit of a fan of how he plays. Its not hard drumming but I think its quite effective the old disco drums
Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Them Crooked Vultures)
Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) - just the passion
Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta)
Ringo Starr (The Beatles)
Jon Theradore (The Mars Volta)

I'll add other instruments later one.... Feel free to as well

I'd say Lou Reed is more of a talented songwriter than a talented vocalist. His vocals are cooool, but obviously it isn't LOOK WHAT I CAN DO WITH MY VOICE sort of vocals.

Re: these are some muscians I think are pretty good

Production/mixing/audio engineering:

- Jim O'Rourke
of Gastr del Sol... more known for his solo work. Has produced Wilco's 'Yankee Foxtrot Hotel' and Stereolab's 'Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night'. Shit yeah steel drums.

- Cornelius
originally in late 80's/early 90's shibuya-kei group, Flipper's Guitar. His production work on his own albums (especially 'Fantasma', which doesn't sound like it was made in 1997) and Takako Minekawa's final album is pretty advanced stuff.

- Kevin Shields
of My Bloody Valentine... You just have to listen to 'Loveless' to know what I mean. MAN.

- Dan the Automator
pretty great hip hop producer, has produced albums by Gorillaz, Dr. Octagon and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.

- Madlib
see: 'Shades of Blue'.

Where do I know that name from? Searching.. Oh the japanese guy. (unless there are others) I remember reading about him once upon a time. He sounds pretty interesting, what do you think, should I grab some of his stuff?

Also Producers..

George Martin (Famously referred to as 'the fifth Beatle, for his work with The Beatles if you didnt get that)
Danger Mouse - Gnarls Barkley, Beck's 'Modern Guilt' etc etc
Brian McTernan - Salad Days Studios (does fucking tonnes of bands, I particularly like him for his work with Circa Survive though)
Dan Anchen - Dine Alone Records (City and Colours 'Bring Me Your Love' sounds quite beautiful in my opinion.)
Ryan Lott - 'some controversy as to whether he is truly the producer of Son Lux's 'At War With Walls & Mazes, so if he is, then he should to be in here.

Re: these are some muscians I think are pretty good

I had a bit of a listen to Brian Chase's other band the other day. Not too bad, not as good as the yyys though.

Also Damon Albarn <3
