There's something interesting about the illusions that appear. They replace the role of iconic Disney characters...
Terra = Prince Charming from Cinderella
Ventus = Snow White from Snow White and The Seven Dwarves
Aqua = The Magic Mirror from Snow White and The Seven Dwarves
I wonder what the significance is with that (even if it's nothing more than coincidence). I feel as though that the Realm of Darkness is using Aqua's memories to substitute characters in the respective Disney worlds with those that are close to her.
Great observation! I didn't notice that at all! Perhaps Aqua has positioned Terra, Ven and herself in positions of characters that she met in the worlds taken by the darkness. Prince Charming represented hope for a better life to Cinderella. Terra taking his place could be Aqua's heart revealing that her hope was misguided, as she had always hoped that Terra didn't succumb to the darkness. That reality must be taking a huge toll on her. While Ven taking the place of Snow White could be Aqua's heart associating Ven's whole life to Snow White's - her evil stepmother The Queen being equated to Master Xehanort (who I think Aqua knows watched over Ven before he came to The Land of Departure). Vanitas/Xehanort caused Ven to become unconscious, which is sort of similar to what The Queen did to Snow White. The Magic Mirror is supposed to never lie, so Aqua sees in it what she sees as "her truth" - that in her (assumed) selfishness, everyone around her was hurt and that makes her a demon. I assume the terminology of "demon" is used as Aqua doesn't know what to call the Heartless (and hence calls them demons) OR its remnants of language from the Magic Mirror itself.
