HEY VT SINCE YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BECOMING MORE ACTIVE ON YOUTUBE...AND STUFF:
I've been recently looking at stuff to help make my videos better and I found something that might help everyone with their videos as well and its really easy
While only some of us upload videos in HD (high definition quality) resolution, HQ (high quality) resolution (which is different) is still something we have to manually select
the standard resolution for most YT videos is 380p which is what most videos default to. because its the regular setting that fits the small widescreen setting
But many many times we recommend that they select HD resolution or minimally HQ resolution for the better audio quality
technically the next highest setting up is 480p which is partially designed to fit the large format screen (not fullscreen...necessarily) instead of the small player size.
(you can toggle between player sizes large or small in the video window)
but unless you have special addons for some browsers or have your settings in youtube to view videos at the highest quality you will always default to the lowest quality video.
THERE is a way around this to make your videos that you upload default to the HQ 480p option. (this is the preferred option for better audio and picture if you don't have a fast connection speed that HD resolution demands)
Here are the steps to get your video to auto play in 480p (which generally is almost immediately available after you upload).
1. You need to access the tags for your video. You can do this by typing them in when you initially upload a video. Or for videos that you have already uploaded select EDIT VIDEO and go to your tags section.
2. Add the following tag which is "yt:quality=high" to your video and click save.
3. now when you go to watch your video it should show in the large format player, and with a 480p resolution without you having to auto select it.

As an added note. this will NOT make it default to HD viewing if you select that.
so if someone in a subscription box see's your video it will only go to the HQ settings. (at the moment there is no way to get a video to default to an HD setting.
but you can make it so that the HQ does through those steps.
HOWEVER, you CAN when sending your links to people (if you have an HD video in 720...I don't know about 1080... yet) send them directly to the HD quality of your video
the way you do this is by adding "&fmt=22" to the end of your video url.
This will take them to the 720 version of your video straight away

EDIT: I should also add that if you don't want to put that tag into each video you can use the same concept from the &fmt=22 video for just HQ but instead of the number being 22 make it 18. so your result would be adding "&fmt=18" to the endof your regular video URL
