Spoiler ShowThe problem with this "Kairi doesn't need to be a warrior to be useful" is that, as others have stated... yes she kinda does when the "justification" they gave us for giving her the shaft all this time was that they were preparing her for her big debut as a fighter.
The game even reinforces this by only showing her in training cutscenes and even making her say that she's training in a wierd place where she could theoretically take AS MUCH TIME AS SHE NEEDS to prepare.
Put these two together, and yes I do expect her to be a fighter and to be good at it. Her DEFEATING a Nort by herself or close wouldn't be out of the picture either.
Instead she doesn't really shine. Like, at all. Which is what happens to other characters too, like Lea and kinda Ventus (he also did stuff more on the emotional side). But then, she ALSO gets kidnapped. Not only does her character have a bad history with kidnappings which earned her a bad rep amongst the fans, she's the only one who gets taken away.
I'm fine with all the other stuff, she saved Sora therefore everybody else, I'm even sort of fine with her being axed by Xehanort in itself. But this was already been done by her, being this beacon of Light for Sora to return to. There's no character arc for Kairi, she's been the same for 17 years. And this proves whoever's writing for her can't take her out of the same 2-3 scenarios, scenarios that are only moderately flattering because while she does contribute to the scene her role is always to bring someone "more useful" back in the game or being saved.
And her having a strong heart/will is hardly a great merit in Kingdom Hearts and more of the most basic of requirements.
