Has anyone read the book The Naming or it's sequal The Riddle?
I'm not saying that they were bad books, they did hold my attention very well after all. But as I got further into the first of the series I began to pick up on similarities between it and LOTR. The first thing that caught my eye was the map in the front of the book. It bares a stricking resemblence to the one JRR Tolkein used. Especially for the fact that the "bad place" is located in the same spot.
There are characteristics of the characters, partically the two protagonists, that remind me of Frodo and Gandalf. I won't say them because the most obvious is found in thte second book and I do not want to spoil anything.
Also the enemies they come across are like the 9 kings, the wraiths.
Maybe it's just my imagination, then again there are no longer any original stories if you believe what people say, but I would tell my friend, .Oathy., about what was happening in these stories and she would shout "PLAGURIZING!" So if anyone else has seen some similarities or would just like to comment I would greatly appreciate it.
