Lemon meringue, please!
"Get on with it, boy!" Piku said, trying to act mad. Ketso could tell that she was really amused with this.
"I- well.."
"Start at the beginning. Of your life." Piku said.
"I-I'm an orphan." Ketso started, uneasily. He hadn't thought about this in a long time. It made him hurt, but worse, it made him feel angry. "But, I had guardians. I don't remember their faces, really. I know the guy had dark hair like Gerard's, but it was shorter then. I don't even remember anything... Except the goodbye."
Piku put the ship on auto-pilot for a while. "It'll be fine," she said, turning to Ketso.
"One day, I think I was, like, three... My parents-I called them that after my real parents died- flew me over to Destiny Island. I don't know where we lived before. We could've been flying from world-to-world, for all I know. Anyway, they said we were moving. No, they said I was moving. I didn't clue in... I was three, right? So anyway, we go to this HUGE house, I mean HUGE, and I was thinking this was gonna be great. But then, I saw other kids. Other kids coming out of the house. And I didn't see any parents. I saw young people taking care of the kids. But there weren't parents. And then, my guardians got my stuff out of the ship. One suitcase. No more. They said something about how this would protect me, and then they left."
Piku shuddered. "That's-"
"I don't want pity. Especially not from two-foot tall peaches playing knight." Ketso said, falling back into his old, rude self. This was how he avoided pain. He hated it, but it worked. Piku raised an eyebrow, but she waited for him to continue.
"But the other kids, they assumed that those guys that dropped me off were my parents. Which they might as well have been. Up until they left me. So the kids, thinking I was here for a vacation or something, hated me. They mocked me. They told me to go back to my rich folk's home, to stop trying to be an average kid, and to stop acting better than them. I don't know where they got any of those things from. I'd...I'd been through more pain than any of them. But then, then I met Jord. Jord was awesome. Jord was a year older than me, and he was the coolest kid I knew. And he hung out with Kora, who I had a crush on when I was about nine. But I lost those feelings. Apparently, Jord grew them. He started hanging more around Kora than me, when we were about thirteen. I tried not to notice it. I was fooling myself. Then, then when I was fourteen, they were leaving me behind. Well, Jord was. I think Kora felt sorry for me. I'd wish she'd just ignored me. But they led me on, making me think I belonged with them. But then... I saw them sharing a paopu."
Piku blinked. Ketso was bewildered.
"Legend of the paopu? Share one and your destinies are bonded forever? Is this a-ringin' any bells?" Ketso asked.
"That's stupid." Piku said, flatly.
"No it's not! The paopu is sacred! A legend!" Ketso sputtered.
"More like a curse. You make your own destiny. You shouldn't be tied down to anyone. What if the feeling doesn't last? What if it works in the opposite way? Destinies bonded? That's not real descriptive. What if you become each others' worst enemies?"
Ketso's eyes widened, but he couldn't think of anything to say. All of that was true. It'd never happened... But it could... In theory.
"Will you just- Will you just let me finish?!" Hollow said, cursing himself for sounding so stupid. "Well, after they shared the paopu-" Piku snorted; Ketso glared. "-I went to the Secret Place. The Secret Place is-"
"-lemme guess," Piku said, pretending to think. "The secret place is... A SECRET PLACE!"
"Very nice." Ketso said, his voice filled with sarcasm. "Anyway, the secret place is a place where the kids all met to hang out and stuff. They explored and drew stuff on the walls, and they tried to open this weird door that was inside of it. So, I went in, even though the other kids didn't let me in. And I sat and was angry at Kora and Jord. I remember telling myself that I felt more pain there then at any other place. I asked myself if this was the pain you feel when your heart breaks. And someone else told me that was the pain you felt when your heart dies."
"That's stupid, too." Piku said, frowning. "If your heart died, you'd be dead."
"Not my ORGAN heart. My HEART heart. Feelings, emotion." Ketso explained.
"I stand by my statement. You still have a heart."
"No. Listen."
"I'm just sayin'" Piku said, leaning back. Then she let Ketso speak.
"So, all've the sudden, I'm on this weird platform. And some stuff happens, and then this guy appears and plunges his hand into my chest. And pulls out my heart. And it's shriveled and dead. And then, I wake up, kid tries to beat me up, I stop him-"
Piku spit out the soda she was drinking. "YOU? Beat someone up? Yeah, right."
"I have the strength!" Ketso said, angrily. "I just... didn't know it..."
"I'm sorry," Piku said, stifling a laugh. "Please, continue."
"Anyway, I just, turned away from everyone. Became a full-time introvert, I guess. And then, the storm came. So, I went out to get food, and all the sudden, I was sucked into this portal. That's when I was transported to Traverse Town. And then I met the most ANNOYING little Peach-girl-"
"Yeah, I think I know about that part." Piku said, in a sarcastic, 'ha ha, you're so funny, Ketso' look.
"So what's your story?" Ketso started.
"No! Tell me about yer stupid keyblade." Piku said. Ketso hung his head, glumly. He thought he could skip that part.
"I... Well, a voice called to me and said that the Power was inside of me or something. And I put my hand inside of my hollow heart and pulled out the keyblade."
"Show me." Piku demanded.
"What, the keyblade?" Ketso said.
"No, I saw that, bonehead. I meant yer hollow heart."
"Oh... It's right here..." Ketso said, pulling his shirt down a little so that Piku could see the patch of black skin.
"Oh, looks painful." Piku observed.
"It is," Ketso agreed. Piku glowered.
"Baby! Jeez."
"What? You just said-"
"Ferget it!" Piku said, laughing at a sputtering Ketso.
"Well, what's your story, O' great one?" Ketso snapped.
"Not that interesting, really. I come from the same place as Gerard. I-"
"-Wait! I thought you were from Tipa! You said in your notes that Lilties are only from-"
"-Shut up and listen, fool. Jeez. Anyway, my whole life was just hanging out. When I was human, that is. I was with my friends, Kaze, Sora, Myra, Taylor, Krojee, and-"
"-Sora?!"
"SHUT UP! Jeez! Anyway, I meet Rikku one day, and she tried to pinch my cheeks. It was annoying. And then her bum-uva-boyfriend came out, and Rikku started hanging out with us. That was about it, until we took Gerard to find Rikku after a whole buncha relationship stuff. So then, blah blah blah, after the happiness of that adventure, I travel around in the Kucumber- that's my gummi- and I crash in this dumpy little world. I land in the village of Tipa, and I reacted pretty much the same way you did when I first met a Lilty. And then this crazy Yuke comes, Harry's dad, Kumar. And Kumar's all "You need to respect other races" or something like that, and next thing I know, I'm living in some Lilty family, and I AM one. So, I spend some time with that family, and Aunt Joy-the one who was cryin' and stuff- she told me I could find Kumar on top o' this mountain. So, I go there, and I fill up their chalice with Myrrh so that they can live for another year-don't ask- and Kumar tells me I hafta fight him to become human again. Toughest battle of my life, I tell ya. I'm about to deliver the finishing blow, and I'm zapped into Traverse. I get there a few days before Gerard- who I'm guessing got zapped, too- and somehow the Kucumber ends up outside the world. But it was broken. So Cid fixes it up, and then you get there. So I figure, since you've got that nifty blade, I oughta take you with me. And now we're here. I didn't know I'd be dealing with such an annoying brat."
"Oh." Ketso said, staring at the stars. "So you weren't trying to find your home planet, just trying to be a human again."
"Yep. Speaking of my home planet- Holy cow, GERARD, GET IN HERE!" Piku said, excitedly, squinting at a small dot outside. Gerard came, wrapped in about five robes with his hair in a towel. Their were suds on his feet.
"Yeah?" He said, clutching a rubber chocobo.
"Doesn't that look like-"
"HOLY COW! I'M HOME!!!! I'M HOME! AND I GOT BACK ALL BY-" Piku glared at him "-YOURSELF, PIKU! THANKS SO MUCH!" He ran back to the bathroom, and Piku stared at Ketso.
"Well, here's our first stop! Get ready to go, fool!" She said, smacking Ketso in the back of the head happily.
