I don't think Lexaeus and Vexen got along well, going by their interactions in Chain of Memories. Vexen tries to pull rank with Axel. Lexaeus is lower then Vexen, but Vexen seems kind of frightened and angry of/at Lexaeus. Xaldin may remember more, he seems like he would hold a grudge if Cloud/Sephiroth ticked him off somehow.

(I did a whole fic about Lexaeus' life as Aeleus. It's called Naomi ^_^)

Thanks! My memories of COM interactions are vague at best, I haven't dealt with that game in awhile.

Hmmm, so going off of that, would it be a stretch to say maybe Sephiroth could have threatened to spill the beans about what Ansems apprentices were doing (with the purpose of ruining their lives) after he found out his true origins, and Xaldin's somebody went toe to toe in combat with him? Xaldin strikes me as a very prideful person, and Sephiroth besting him in combat when he was Dilan could tick him off. And then Sephiroth goes and tips off Ansem before he vanishes. Dilan is well aware that Sephiroth did it, so he'd then be downright furious.

Yay! Now I'm getting excited and relieved at the same time.

Would it still be canonical to have Sephiroth be the catalyst for Ansem to discovering what his apprentices were doing? Sephiroth visits AtW's office/study, scares the living daylights out of him, gets all cryptic, and then throws strong hints his way that his apprentices are betraying him. AtW is compelled to investigate, and finds out that Sephiroth is right.

Another option could be that Sephiroth comes after AtW is betrayed, and right after Xehanort and Braig fall to darkness and become their nobodies. That way, he realizes what's going on while he's there, and when he's on the verge of killing Dilan after besting him in combat, he decides not to because he'll fall to darkness anyway. Or Sephiroth can kill Dilan and prompt his fall into darkness, turning him into Xaldin. I imagine that would leave a massive impression on Xaldin, and he'd remember Sephiroth quite clearly that way. Then he'd be more than happy to go and try and grab Sephiroth in the Coliseum.

And I read the first part of Naomi. It's very good, I love it! I have it on one of my tabs in my browser right now.

Oh I loved it. You made a character that we barely know anything about to be so realistic. The best part for me was when Lexaeus woke up in his room and was looking at all of the remnants of his life as a somebody. To me that just brought it all full circle.

You've got a point there about Dilan. So say Sephiroth beats Dilan up to the point where just a few more swipes would kill him. But he doesn't. Dilan wonders why, and Sephiroth responds with a simple, "Now where would the fun be in that? I'd rather see you on your knees, just the way you are." That enrages Dilan to no end. But Sephiroth delights in making other people suffer. He knows Dilan would suffer more if he just left him very badly beaten, and Sephiroth strongly suspects that Xehanort and Braig may have fallen to the darkness. He figures Dilan could be next.

A thought just occurred to me about how Sephiroth could find out about Aqua. Would Sephiroth want to find out what happened to Even if he found out that Even fell to darkness? Because if he did, he could go on a hunt that would end up involving where the other apprentices went to, and through that process, he could encounter the LS in the Keyblade Graveyard. He fights the LS and taunts the LS enough that the LS spills enough information that Sephiroth can connect 'Aqua' with the blue haired girl that was with Zack during a moment of spying on him.

But that still has Sephiroth being post telling AtW. That being said, he could probably sense that Braig is heavily involved with the Darkness.

I don't know how much the LS would talk though... he's kind of all business. He can still visit the graveyard though... maybe threaten the moogle?

Sephiroth threatening a moogle is giving me really comical images in my mind for some reason, lol. And yeah, you're right. To have it that Sephiroth tips off AtW, he could just sense that his apprentices have dabbled quite heavily in darkness. He could get information from AtW about what they're doing with a simple chat, and when AtW talks about how he's against his apprentices dealing heavily with darkness or something like that, Sephiroth could response with a curt, "You might want to have a talk with your apprentices then."

I don't think it would take the LS to say much for Sephiroth to make the connections, especially if he was aware that AtW had an apprentice named Xehanort. Just the key words similar to what LS says in FM, and that could be enough to trigger Sephiroth's curiosity. And the LS would absolutely pick a fight with Sephiroth, since he'd be embodied in darkness.

He doesn't say much though to Sora, does he? Just says some names and then accuses Sora of stealing the keyblade (I don't really remember, sorry) Sephiroth doesn't have the keyblade though. And the keyblade was the only reason LS was interested in Sora in the first place.

Oh yeah, that's true. I think, if I remember correctly, the LS sees Sora's keyblade and hopes it's the person "he chose". Upon realizing it's not, the LS seems to automatically assume that Sora is either Xehanort, or some agent of Xehanort.

Perhaps I should ditch the idea of Sephiroth running into the LS while trying to figure out what happened to Even.

Aha! And Sephiroth could have known Zack before he discovered his true origins, right? Zack would absolutely be the type to launch into stories about TAV (especially Aqua), at the mention of the keyblade. If not Zack, then I'm sure Sephiroth could have pulled it out of someone like Hades.

So, has anyone else here ever experimented with just completely improvising their story? Since I started up a new fun fic, I've been inspired by Homestuck to just add in these little things that I have no idea what they'll mean later. It's just this spontaneous thing that feels so good because it really makes you write into things we you never sure of in the first place.

Aheh um. Anyone else ever try this on a large scale, not just a short story?

This may sound like a weird question, but do you guys think I should write and post my new story idea? I mean, I already have two stories in progress, both of which I've neglected majorly, but this new story (a futuristic Zelda fanfiction) just won't get out of my head lately. I know I have a very bad history of never finishing stories, but I could considerably shorten one of my stories to finish it up, leaving me yet again with only two stories (and some readers of the shortened story who are a little let down). Still, whenever I sit down to write, I end up critiquing for the request thread or not getting as much done as I'd hoped. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to start a new story anyway, knowing that the odds that I'll finish it are not the greatest?

Furthermore, I considered trying to collaborate on the story with someone, but since I already have a pretty solid storyline figured out, I guessed that would probably turn a lot of people off. So I'd like to know, is it "normal" or "acceptable" to ask a person to help you write a story that you've already largely plotted out? Obviously pretty much everything I've come up with can be changed if they want it to be, and there's plenty of room for them to add whatever they'd like, but the fact that I basically started without them makes me uneasy.

I would definitely say that you should start writing the new one if you can't get it out of your head, but give it time before you post it. Don't write out chapters, write out ideas. Do some planning instead of just rushing it out.

You could also do what I started doing. Set aside time a day (or specific days) to do a certain amount of writing. Trust me, it's much easier to do finish something time consuming when you break it into tiny steps and focus on those (instead of focusing on the final stretch).

I plan to make another chapter in my Kingdom Hearts fanfic where the heroes (Sora being there optional) enter a world to fight off the bad guys controlling Heartless/Nobodies/Unversed, team up with the 'native' heroes, etc. Like in the games.
