Hey I haven't posted in so long, but anyway I have recently became a big fan of the shadow hearts series and I was wondering who else here was and what you thought was the best one. Though I'm guessing Covenant will be most liked.
Anyway so I will go though each one and state good and bad points:
-Shadow hearts, the beginning of the Shadow Hearts trilogy though Koudelka was before it and properly started the whole story off. Shadow Hearts starts in 1913 China, 14 years after Koudelka. You play as Yuri a strange and rather sexual young man, but as you go through the game he develops and you learn about him and he changes. Yuri has the power to fuse into monsters he defeats in his soul. He meets various people on his travels.
Firstly he meets Alice and you know how it goes, he falls in love with the leading lady but however this story can end badly or good. All according to what ending you get, bad she dies and good she lives basically.
The pair then meets an old exorcist by the name of Zhuzhen wh olater joins the party. Zhuzhen also has a connection to Yuri's father. Then the pair meet Margarete or Malkovich as she is also known as who is interested in the group and so joins them.
They later meet a man by the name of Keith Valentine who resides in a castle in France. He has been asleep for hundreds of years and so when he awakes he joins the group. Finally they meet a boy called Halley in London who joins the group after they help him with a few quests. He also has a big connection to Koudelka.
The group then fight a man by the name of Roger Bacon, only if you have Koudelka you would know that this isnt the real Roger Bacon.
Shadow Hearts 2 Covenant- Yuri is back and this time the quest is bigger and better, set in 1915 France during WW1, this game continues on from the bad ending of SH1 meaning, only 6 months after SH1 had finished, yes and that means Alice died. On this journey he is joined by:
Karin- a german officer who is tricked into cursing Yuri and then discovers Yuri is really fighting for the greater good. And so she joins him and falls in love with him.
Gephetto- An ex-puppiter, who starts to follow Yuri after Yuri dug a grave with his own hands for Alice. Gephetto is Alice's aunt's huband. Therefore he is her Uncle in law.
Blanca- A wolf demon who protects the village Yuri and Gephetto reside in. He joins the team with Gephetto when you get Yuri however he cant speak the human language. Basically RedXIII but without the power of speech.
Joachim- Keith's older brother and body builder. He is protecting the French town Rouen which is also Alice's home town, this is when he meets the team. After they assist him in saving two young children he joins the team.
Lucia- A dancer and physic who helps the team with their mission, she takes them to a mansion to get some herbs for her teacher to help the team and ends up trying to kill them, thinking they are bad. After things are resolved she join the team.
Anastasia- You heard, Princess Anastasia, the fourth daughter of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. After she meets the team she joins them almost instantly.
Kurando- Yuri's cousin who joins the team when they go to Japan on the second disc. He can fuse like Yuri but only has 2, but their power is a lot higher than Yuri's. He also plays as Anastasia's love interest.
The game also has many of the old characters:
Keith Valentine.
Roger Bacon.
Kato.
Alice.
Are just a few.
Shadow Hearts 3 From the new world-
New continent, new person. Johnny Garland, a 16 (or so we think) year old detective in New York. Set in 1929 America. His past is shrouded in mystery and the story unravels it. He is joined by:
Shania- His 'love' interest. She is the fuser in the team and her fusions are well good but compared to the last 2 games, absolute crap. She is a native american and the Princess of her now dead tribe.
Natan- Shania's protector who joins Johnny's team along with her. The pair are searching for a woman known as Lady, who happens to be the big bady in the in the game. But is she really bad? Play the game and decide for yourself.
Frank- A ninja, well if you can call him that, just go look at him. He joins the team when they search for a man named Gilbert.
Mao- Frank's ninja master and wanna be actress. She is a giant Cat and SOOOO cool lol. She joins the team when they help her break out Al Capone from Alcatraz prison.
Hilda- Joachims and Keith' younger sister. She joins the team in Roswell when the goverment lock her up and assume she is an alien not a vampire. She is also acompied by -drum roll- Roger Bacon, but he never fights, oh well. Hilda's form as a vampire is based on her calories. -15 and lower she is slim form, high in magical power but the weakest in physical. +15 and higher she is the best physical fighter but a weak (weak not weakest) magical person. I she is between -14 and +15 she is bat mode. No magic but kick ass high attack. Finally +100 or -100 is mask mode which is basically highest magic and physical attack. Especially when you get an optional mask later on near the end. However this mode lasts 3 battles then she goes down to 0 calories.
Richardo- lover of Al capone's sister and last to join the team. He is a guitar player and joins the team when they go to Las Vegas in search of Al Capone when he goes there after a rival.
