Ugh. The European CE lacks the steelbook, artbook, DLC and proper soundtrack (we get bloody MP3's!) that are included in the Japanese and NA counterparts. Europe gets screwed over again. What else is new?

I have a major issue with finishing these game anymore. I don't know why, but they always end up getting left behind in my sea of games. I never had this issue with this series when I was younger.

I've beat Symphonia, Symphonia 2, Legendia, and the Abyss.

A couple years after The Abyss I picked up the Phantasia GBA release and got maybe halfway through.

On Vesperia, I grinded early on to like, level 40, so I was plowing through the story, but as soon as I made it to the desert area I saved and all of a sudden just kind of quit playing (to be fair though, I was borrowing it from a friend, as I do not own an XBAX)

I was falling in love with Graces story, but as soon as I made it to the desert, nope, just ended up never playing again (does anyone else dislike desert areas in RPG's). Mind you I don't stop playing in deserts on purpose, it just kind of happens.

Then Xillia, I love Xillia, and intend on playing it again soon (especially with the fantastic looking Xillia 2 on the horizon). I played through Jude's hometown (I think that's a little after the end of part 1), and then it took a backseat to Ni No Kuni, among other games.

So I have only completed, what, half of the Tales games I've played? Damn deserts.

Oddly enough, that's basically me with Symphonia 2, Destiny, and Vesperia.

My first Tales game was Tales of Phantasia. Not any of the remakes, mind you, but the infamous DeJap translation for the Super Famicom. Anyway, while I never beat that version, I did complete the Absolute Zero translation for the PSX on my PSP.

Destiny came next. As much as I liked the game, I never completed it thanks to playing other games at the time (read: Symphonia).

Symphonia was easily one of the best games I ever played for the series and on the GameCube (or, rather, the Wii in this case). It had a lot of heart to it and I saw it as an excellent prequel to Phantasia. The actual sequel, however, wasn't bad but I was once again distracted by different games (in this case, Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories).

Vesperia is arguably my favorite in the series at this point. Yuri has already bumped off Kratos and Leon as my favorite Tales character and the dialogue in this game is incredible.

As of this moment, I'm waiting for the Symphonia chronicles to come stateside. I also really wish that the PS3 version of Vesperia can be released worldwide, but if what I hear is correct, that's not happening. ;_;

If the Tales series continues to do well in Europe and North America though, who knows what will happen? It seems like it will too, so the only real reason why Vesperia for the PS3 wouldn't be released in the west would be if Microsoft have paid for the exclusivity and that deal is still on.

I'm still waiting for the team that's making a patch that will translate vesperia's text to english to release the patch.

Well, if you guys are willing to import Vesperia for PS3, there is always this: Tales of Vesperia: English Script Browser
It has an amazing UI, and I think it will make it very easy and painless to go through the game if you are willing. It is missing some of the new PS3 stuff that was added, but for the most part you can get through the entirety of the main story

I doubt Vesperia PS3 will ever release outside of Japan, it's too late now. I think the best we can hope for is an HD remaster for Vesperia and even then we might not get it.

Huh? Pretty sure the original is rendered in HD already.

I worded that wrong. What I meant is sometime in the future they might think of releasing it again but for a better/newer console since everybody loves doing that.

The PS3 version was, much like the PS2 version of Symphonia, sort of like a Final Mix version so I don't know what else they could add at this point.

Speaking of Symphonia, the PS2 version was 30fps (the GC version was 60fps) so that's what the Chronicles version will be. It's a bit sad they couldn't make it 60 fps while keeping all the PS2 content. It's also 720p (then again, it would probably not benefit from being rendered at a higher resolution anyway). The sequel (that no one seems to like) is 60fps though.

Oh oh, me pick me, I liked the sequel! Meh, it was okay. I hated that there were level caps, and while inevitable, I didn't like the VA changes so much. But the rest of the game was fine by me, the world map didn't even bother me.

Kind of a shame that they couldn't make Symphonia 60 fps like the sequel. Oh well.

Admittedly yeah. They VAs weren't bad, but the original ones had a bit more of a level of authenticity to them.

Also, reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaallllllly they kept Krato's VA. There is no way an English voice actor can voice Kratos the way Cam Clarke does.

So Tales of Symphonia Chronicles was released in Europe today, I was so excited when I got it. Those figures though, it was difficult to assemble them together especially Marta.

I haven't played Symphonia before but I feel like this is gonna be a good game just from hearing the music when you start up the game. It was so beautiful~ Can't say much for anything else though since I've only played a few minutes but the story seems interesting enough.

On the other hand, a steady 30 fps ain't bad. Especially not since they've also fixed some of the slowdown problems from both the GC and PS2 verisons and made some attacks faster. It's not a game that requires a higher framerate to be playable or enjoyable, even though it would have been the icing on the cake.

If you enjoy the Tales series, then I feel like I can say without a doubt you will enjoy Symphonia. If you love Symphonia, then I hope you enjoy the sequel as well, I know I did. It really was awesome to explore the same towns and overall world again several years later to see how things changed

I played a bit of Symphonia: Chronicles on Tuesday (I live in the US, so my release date was three days earlier). Anyway, I felt that the combat was a bit more fast paced than I remember. I had quite a bit of fun going around Iselia and later having Kratos help us out in the battle against Botta. I kind of almost forgot how awesome the music was as well (I haven't played the game in nearly five years, so yeah).

And then I stopped because I only had three hours of sleep the night before and that I wanted to plow through the rest of Re: Chain of Memories before getting back to Symphonia so I wouldn't have any more distractions video game-wise.

honestly, symphonia (even the sequel) is one of my favourite games and i was hyped to buy chronicles, but after playing it for a short while it really does feel dated :(
