Alvin and Rowen's voice acting are great (and i'm among the fans who think Sam Riegel did a great job with Jude). I personally don't have any issues with Milla because I don't pay a lot of attention to it, but I know her lisp irks a lot of people.
I was pretty disappointed with the graphics (you can see the pixels in the ground and walls and just--). I'm gonna whip out my copy of Xillia 2 tomorrow and compare, but from what I remember they didn't do much to update the graphics; though as far as character designs go I really like Ludger and Elle's designs.
I'd say Vesperia sorta breaks away from that. Haha h a OK i'm so sorry, i'm putting this in a spoiler because I ended up with a wall of text oops. I'm tired so I ended up typing more than normal; sorry about that. (this might help others who haven't played Vesperia understand the cast a bit though)

Patty Fleur is a character exclusive to the PS3 version, so I can't say much about her, but I know that she apparently has a pretty sad past, says "Nanoja!" a lot, and that everyone who hated her at first loved her by the end of the game.
The reason i'm upset about the PS3 version is that it basically includes enough new content to count as a second Vesperia, Flynn actually STAYS IN YOUR PARTY once you get to a certain point, the ending is a little different, plus the DLC, etc.
Sam Riegel improved so much since Vesperia, I really like him as Jude. As for Milla, I think her lisp suits her. At first I thought it was really weird and odd but now I'm used to it I think it works for her.
I didn't know she had a dark past, that would have been really interesting to see. Now I do want the PS3 version, I wasn't happy with what they did with Flynn in the Xbox version. He's supposed to be a main part of the game and yet he only pops up every one in a while and then leaves. At least he was with you in the PS3 ending, it annoyed me how he wasn't even there in the Xbox version.
Yeah, when I see Flynn and Yuri in the movie and Project X Zone, they both seem to be strong characters, and even though you play Yuri, I felt that Flynn was just as much the main character. Since the xbox version doesn't do Flynn any justice tho...Maybe I WILL get the PS3 version. They talk about Flynn a LOT in the game before you even MEET him.

I'm playing Tales of Graces f now. It's my first Tales game. It's quite good so far. Too bad there's no option for Japanese voices, but why complain? It seems this series has finally started to get popular here in the west after so many years so I'm glad we're getting more of these games in the first place! Still, I wish we would at least receive a separate dub for Europe by British actors.

Tales of Xillia is pretty freaking amazing guys, I just finished part one, but damn playing on hard is, well, hard. Jiao took me like 11 retries until I finally beat him lmao

Preesa's Lightning, Agria's Tails/Sakura/Pascel, Gaius' Roy, Rowen's Natsu Dragneel, Elize/Tipo that one girl from Persona 4, there's a lot of familar faces. Can't wait for who will play Ludger and Elle in Xillia 2 next year.
THANK YOU. Seems like on other sites everyone says "you got stuck at ___? oh wow dude that's lame the game was super easy for me haha" and i'm just like wait wat. I just got to Chapter 3 last night (I haven't had much time to play) and I had to level Milla up to lvl 52 before fighting Gaius, after losing three times; who you can apparently lose against anyway with no ill after effects on the game but my pride was at stake man.
Point is, i've had to grind like crazy. I've already logged in 65+ hours and haven't even beaten the game whoops (probably doesn't help that i've been trying to max out my shop expansions as well).
Eh, to be honest, this is probably one of the easier tales games. Only time I ever found the main game challenging was maybe two endgame boss battles where the stunlock was stupid. And even then I only died once during the entire main quest (and that wasn't even at one of those parts, but just because I made a really dumb mistake earlier on).
Then again, the difficulty of any JRPG is more based on how willing someone is to grind than anything else. I was probably mid-upper 40s when I took on the part you mentioned.

I tried to get through it when I was still lvl 45, but except for Elize, my party was getting wiped out whenever he used his Mystic Arte (then again, i've been focusing on weapons rather than armor and haven't been doing as much for VIT/DEF stats whoops- plus I rarely use items). So I felt like it'd save me time later if I took some time to grind and up my stats rather than think up a strategy since I had a good area to do it and would need to again soon anyway. After that I beat him in under 2 minutes.
You're right about that. I've never minded grinding, it's just that when i'm on my first playthrough i'm anxious to get through the story lol.

Tales of Xillia turned out to be pretty fantastic, i think. story was better than i thought, so im really psyched for the sequel. pretty much the only 2 things i really hated was the lack of a over world (tho the addition of quick travel made up for that in spades) and just the areas in the game over all felt really small. the fact that all the paths between the towns were surrounded my cliffs really bothered me. it seemed unrealistic, and i was starting to feel claustrophobic by halfway thru the game. and that there was no spa sidequest made me sad 
but over all, pretty awesome. probably my 2nd favorite after symphonia. now im just working on earning more grade so i can beef up my 2nd playthru with milla
